The pictures don't seem to support the description and the deal offered does not seem attractive at all.
Walk away.....or have you already bought it and our role was to validate the decision?

Hi, going by the pictures, the watch doesn't look to be NOS (New Old Stock) in condition even if it has storage marks there's very little reason why the caseback sticker has been pasted on the COSC cert. Also you could always do an additional check to have the crown in the fully out position and see if there's any noticeably wear or grime around the thread/stem/gasket.
A watch is to use and appreciate, and to appreciate is to wear it.

Wow, tough crowd! That’s a beautiful DJ and a great full set. It’s not NOS, of course, and it’s overpriced, but it’s very difficult to find in this condition and as a full set.
It’s not a rare reference, but there aren’t many out there that are super clean like this and with a fat case, matching tritium patina, original date wheel with open 6s/9s, all the bits and pieces of a very full set (minus the DJ manual), etc... Always better to overpay for a watch in this condition than save money on a run-of-the-mill example. I love the old silver DJs. Quintessential vintage Rolex. |

It appears to be a very nice, vintage Datejust, although it does not appear to be "new in the box" based on the photos.

As I said, it’s overpriced in the current market, but what will that market look like in five years? This might seem like a very good deal then. More importantly, it’s just a really nice vintage watch. |

Just to add my voice to the chorus, I think it's a nice example of a rather commonplace DJ. If it sings to you and the price works for you, buy it. Can you flip it as NOS if you don't wear it? I am doubtful. If you're buying to wear it, the only thing that matters is how much you like it and how much you are willing to pay. Great deal? Not really, but I bought DJs for decades for less than $2K, so I get sticker-shock every time I look at ANYTHING and my opinion is likely not useful to you.

It’s a nice watch but it looks to have been worn a fair few times and I don’t think it’s a super collectible model where you should not wear it. If it’s at a good price compared to a new current model DJ, wear it and enjoy It. If there isn’t much difference in price get a new one with the newer better bracelet and clasp plus a 5 year warranty - you will not have to wait long for a non white dial or blue dial DJ 36mm or 41mm.

Not NOS.
However, due to the hollow link bracelet, the 'sag' you show is NOT excessive.

Its not as bad as some are making it out to be, but it's not NOS and a little overpriced.

I agree Robby. I don't know where these guys are coming from calling this bracelet "stretched." I'm not seeing any significant stretch at all.

Zap is mistaken. That Jubilee is an early 1980s bracelet. It is correct for the watch.

Not NOS to me, nothing crisp about it. NOS means NEW old stock. No scratches, regardless of reasons period. IMO maybe not even mint.

37 years old NOS watch
Quote:
OP, the watch is not NOS. Comparing the condition to other models has nothing to do with it being bought as NOS. You should look at older threads in the classified section to see what exactly NOS should look like. Always in new condition. Furthermore I’m not even sure TRF would allow this to be advertised as NOS. Should ideally still have the tags on it. If you like the watch get it, but don’t buy it under the presumption of NOS. Sounds like you are trying to sell yourself so go for it. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This isn’t a tough crowd, the OP is insisting the watch is something that it is not. There is no way the watch is NOS with quite clear signs of wear.
Sounds like he bought the watch already, just let it go and enjoy it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I find it interesting that people seem almost offended that the OP used the term NOS for this DJ. Does it really matter that the condition was over-stated? He’s not trying to sell it. Sounds just like exuberance for a new purchase.
He probably should have just said he found a vintage DJ in great condition that comes as a super full set, down to the original serial number tag. I’d be happy to own this watch (for the right price). |
