Actually when making watch made up of platinum it needs more platinum to make a platinum watch compare to gold. 25% is loss when you melt a platinum to make a watch hence thats why platinum watch are more expensive than gold watches. Thats why ven gold is more expensive per oz, but you lose a lot in the process when platinum is used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It has the hardness similar to 904L steel. It scratches up about the same, according to many members here. I really enjoy the glow of my YG Sub. It took buying an 18K watch to truly understand why so many here love them.

This was a refreshing post for a change. Thanks for sharing, but are we sure we don't want to talk about the unavailability of gold watches after polishing? Or, continue on about market values pre/post polish?

So 2.5g of metal lost (210.6 - 208.1). This translates into 2.5 x 0.75 = 1.875g of pure gold vanished. Doesn't Rolex say they will polish a gold watch up to three times maximum?

This is a true statement when it comes to polishing. Any shop worth their salt is going to collect the scrap from the job to be sold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
