The answer is always day date, regardless of the question

Always DD40 my friend.

Ask yourself would you rather have 2 bottles of Johnny walker 1 red label and 1 black label or go straight for the top shelf and just have 1 bottle of blue label? Easy answer for me.

Always pick the top shelf pinnacle Rolex Presidential.

40mm DD is a fantastic watch! It's hard to let others go... if possible keep the others and get the DD as soon as you can.

I’m surprised by all the yes enablers here.

Only you can know, but the question I’d be asking myself is do I still enjoy wearing the Sub, and do I think I’d really enjoy wearing the Daytona in the same way for the same purpose?

Personally, for what you’ll get from the Submariner, I’d keep it and add the DD

FWIW, the DD will wear more similar to your Daytona vs the Sub (with a lot of extra heft if you like that). It also lacks bracelet adjustability which for some is a deal breaker. YMMV.

Good luck deciding.

I'm a bit of a movement snob so definitely yes, the Daytona's 4130 movement is great but the 3135 in the sub could be well improved upon by way of the DD40's 3255.
Plus the diversity of a dress watch and sports watch will add flexibility.

Only exception is if you're an avid diver often going below 50 meters...
