I don’t disagree regarding the hype. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out throughout remainder of the year.

I went to two AD's this past Monday and neither one of them had a single DD40 in stock. First time I have ever seen that. They had a couple 36 mm Day Dates but that was it. Hard to believe it's now gotten to the point that even PM $35K models have the be wait listed. The RG with Choco dial is my favorite by the way. It's gorgeous

Absolutely. Right now all gold pieces are hyped because they are hard to get also. As the economy recedes and inventory increases I believe we will be right back where we were at in 2015 by the end of this year. Probably sooner.

You really think so? I don’t see Rolex increasing its releases significantly. I also don’t see the pent up demand dropping any time soon either. While unpopular amongst those that want watches at MSRP, this sort of craze is fantastic for the brand.

As covid cools off, and it will, then production will resume back to normal. As far as demand goes that it absolutely tied to how hot the economy is and the economy is toast and will continue to decline. That will ease pressure on demand.

I suppose I tend to think that 1) Rolex will do everything it can to maintain this bubble and 2) there are enough folks out there who have been waiting to gobble up any additional pieces that start hitting the shelves. Don’t expect it to last forever, but also don’t think we’ll be back to normal by the end of the year.

I doubt very seriously Rolex cares about any bubble. They didn’t create this last one because they have nothing to do with the economy we’ve had the past four years. It’s also not their fault they’ve had to shut down a bunch due to the politicians making them because of Covid. So production levels and the economy affected availability for sure but the two have nothing to do with each other. All I’m telling you is production levels will return to normal as we open back up throughout the world and when the economy returns to 2015 levels there will be one heck of a lot less disposable income laying around for average people to spend on luxury items like Rolex watches.

I think there’s also a large portion of the population (myself included) that spends more time now trying to find joy in life during some of the stresses and challenges that covid has given us. And that includes buying luxury goods like watches cars, etc. so perhaps that has also driven prices up.

Won’t get into an economic debate or say that I have any clue what watch values will be in the future. But barring a complete global economic collapse - and maybe that is what you are suggesting - I don’t see 2015 levels happening anytime soon.

Time will tell. As someone who has resisted going grey, I certainly won’t complain about seeing more watches in cases. Cheers!

Another data point for you:

I asked my AD, who I have a good relationship with, for a DD40 RG with the silver stripe motif...I was told a few months.

YG w silver dial is 3 months, ordering from Rolex. Perhaps the problem is RG isolated.

You have been wrong a lot of times on this forum and so this made me laugh. It’s your aggressive tone combined with you being so unbelievably wrong which made me chuckle

Well it’s a good thing you’ve been around here a long time so you can offer us your experienced opinion on these things. Glad I made you laugh.
