No idea, but it was a pain to get - and even going grey, they’re not on the shelves long.

But it sure is a looker, so if you fancy it... get it!

Market price of this model sure went up very fast, last year only $34k and now $46k.

I am waiting for one at my Rolex boutique.

John Mayer and Hodinkee are just presenting material they think viewers are interested in reading from their website. JM seems to be interested in Daytonas not DD. If you are considering a DD, the rose gold green dial is certainly a very nice watch.

Yes and I was actually meaning to compare it to the Daytona yellow gold green dial “John Mayer” that he made famous. And I just saw a trusted seller post the DD RG40 olive yesterday for almost 49k and it’s gone the next day so perhaps the two will eventually converge in pricing. But who knows.

I have this watch and it's my favourite Rolex. Just such a lovely watch with a gorgeous colour combination. You have to see it in person.

I also have the John Mayer green Daytona and I like that too.

However if I had to choose between them, the Daytona would be history.

228235 RG with Olive dial is the most popular Day-Date but I don't think the price in secondary market will ever skyrocket to the level of 116508 YG Daytona with Green dial.

I turned one down a few weeks ago for a reason that most people seem to find strange, I didn't like it. Well, that's not strictly true, it's a stunning watch but not one I felt that a mid 30 year old could pull off wearing for about another 20 years at least! I didn't ask for it, I asked my AD if they had any cool PM available hoping for an oyster flex Daytona or something and they came back with an olive day-date. Very nice but just not me.

I’m the same way - I only buy a watch if it speaks to me. A simple concept many people can’t fathom!

You may take a chance on something at £3,000 like a Tudor if you weren't sure but not 30k plus. Unless you're mega money minted, as we say up north lol.

I think that is certainly subjective, I am in my early 30s and never thought it was an older man's watch, especially with the olive dial. In fact, of all the watches I have owned, besides RM, it received the most compliments from those in various age groups. I sold mine back at the end of 2019 for $29k and one of the few watches I regret selling. Even at current prices, I still think A LOT of bang for the buck for a full RG watch.

It’s a beautiful watch but I don’t like this type of green. I much prefer the Daytona type of green which is very different.

It doesn't get much wrist time but I do really love it. The olive actually appears to be a deep green at times, depending on the light. I was fortunate to grab mine shortly after they came out in the high 20s new. (shot on the new iphone)

I’m 28 and have a RG DD40 w/ olive in my collection.

I’ve learned in life to simply like what you like and forget what anyone else thinks. It’s much easier that way.

obviously every one is different but i never agreed with the day date being labeled as a retirement watch. if you're young you can wear one with a hoodie and sweats no problem. i think i actually prefer that look versus wearing it with a suit

Besides being a talented musician, John Mayer has shown without question he is truly knowledgeable about, and interested in watches.

The yellow gold green dial Daytona is called the JM Daytona because he spoke about it. When JM speaks about the DD like it’s the next greatest thing, then yes it will reach the same level. Or else no.

Yes. The price today for this bad boy already reached $57-$60k. And even though I have trouble to find one at the moment. The demand for this model is unreal....So it is possible to say $75k sooner or later

Just contacted by my AD that someone elses order came in and they refused the watch for financial reasons.

It's a beauty.

What’s John Mayer status ?

If he championed the air king would that reach 5x its retail too.

The whole situation is a bit ridiculous and is short to mid term which will die off.

It's crazy how the guy that started The Grateful Dead became so influential in the watch world.

Better looking and less flashy ( relatively speaking) than the JM- So did it reach JM status a year and a half later ?
