You cant go wrong with a beautiful DJ41. I agree with what someone else posted, smooth bezel on jubilee is the perfect DJ balance!!

I just got my Wimbledon and I could not be happier with the purchase.

If it's a datejust, definitely get the jubilee bracelet. It feels slight better fitting than oyster to me.

I used to be "fluted only" but the smooth bezel rounds out the watch and reduces its flashiness a bit.

Blue's my pick. I like the blue the best because from certain angles, it'll appear black or at least navy. But, to each's own.

I agree on the jubilee and smooth combination, they work really well together. Prefer the Rhodium dial but that blue version looks pretty good too.

I went with a sporty configuration on my DateJust. It seems more versatile when traveling.
I could wearing a sub, gmt or deepsea but, they don’t seem to be as flexible going from a suit at a conference to jeans and T-shirt walking around when out of town.
Of course, if I’m going to be in Baltimore or Chicago I’ll probably wear a vintage Omega so there is even less flash and no date bubble.

Datejust 41 is allocation piece at my local ADs. DJ36 on order only 25-50% deposit. The landscape changed vastly since Christmas.

I have worn mine every day I have owned it (it’s just been a week, lol, but still). I think all fluted bezel datejusts, and especially two toned versions, are going to see a big explosion in popularity and wear.

That said, if you just like “sports” watches, you may be not wear them as often. IMO any Rolex collector should have a “classic watch” (preferably with some kind of precious metal) and a sports watch. Classic could be DJ, DD, even OP.

+1

I bought my DJ because i wanted it, not to fill an itch. If you don't want it, don't buy it.

I love the new 36mm datejust. Wouldn’t trade it for my sub but it would be a great companion.

To me, an AD requiring you to buy stuff you don't want in order to be allowed to get what you do want reeks of extortion and bait-and-switch.

Agreed. The only watch i want is a BLNR from an AD.

I'd buy a DJ36 for my wife, since that size looks the best on her, and if it helped my case, however i wouldn't buy a DJ for myself since it's not on my radar

Until almost 2 weeks ago, I’d only ever worn Rolex Sports models (SUBC, BLNR & SD4K) yet I’m totally loving my new Datejust 36. As others have said don’t buy if you don’t want one tho, that’d be crazy

8 Sports and 5 DJ’s in the collection.

The DJ’s offer variety where the sports watches don’t. Once you have one black ceramic bezel Rolex you might as well have them all as they’re all so similar. With DJ’s that’s not the case, and if I’m not working, the I wear the DJ’s mostly during my time off.

The DJ is probably the best all round watch Rolex ever made and it’s likely to remain that way for the foreseeable.

Absolutely right.

The stigma of the DJ not being cool enough for the WIS is OVER.

I just got a LBIB DJ2 and it’s fabulous. Best value on the market right now..

Every Rolex is indeed fantastic and regret free as could possibly be.

That’s just how it is now. ADs prioritise customers based on spending pretty much.

I had a DJII in blue but it didn't have legs and got lost in the shuffle. I really like the uniqueness of the Milgauss and can't see parting with it ever. For some reason the DJs are too common although beautiful they just don't thrill me. I wish they did. I could see owning a Thunderbird but that's about it. I think the DJ (Wimbledon) you've got might be the best looking of the bunch.

It sure is. My current Rolex duo is a Sub and a DJ 36 with a silver dial. With these two watches one could rule the world... but not me, I’m too lazy.

OP - get a Datejust right now!

Regret? Doubt it

But I only have Rolex SS sport and I’m not venturing down path of DJ41

Anybody buying Datejusts Because Steel Sports Inflated?

An interesting question.

There are different types of Rolex buyers.

Those who just want a Rolex and a Datejust and whatever is available will do but keep in mind that even Datejusts are now not easy to source in a combination that a buyer might like.

Then there is the buyer who just wants a ‘sports Rolex’ a Sub, SubDate, GMT, Daytona, OP, SkyD, etc. etc. and these are just not available for us minions.

I’m not sure that a buyer who can’t find a ‘sports Rolex’ could even find a Rolex they liked give the choices available in AD’s.

I visited my AD a few weeks ago and they only had a few ladies models in stock and one RG Daytona with diamonds.

There might have been some sought after Rolex model ‘out the back’ but as I have only bought four Rolex watches, two Omegas and two Longines watches from them I am a none event at Farren Price in SA.

I would only buy from them if they contacted me and offered me something I wanted at retail with no strings attached.

I am not waiting up for the call.

This is a 2006 116200 that I wear all the time, way more sporty than your everyday DJ albeit a bit more pricey.
This is one of my fav DJs of all time, I tried to like the 40 DJII variant with the fluted bezel more but this one looks better in my eyes.

If you dress to impress, you may regret it.

If you enjoy a spectacular watch that can do everything, and wear like you're not wearing a watch, you will never regret buying a DJ.

How would something like a fluted bezel datejust, which has precious metal, be less "impressive" than a stainless steel model (the Datejust cost more!)

Good point, but I based my post on this: Anybody Buying Datejusts Because Steel Sports Inflated?

Suggesting that SS sport models are "Inflated" and DJ's could be had for less money. At least that's the way I took it.
