RG wins in every category

Rose Gold just works so well with olive, I think it will be popular for quite a long time. The rg seems to change in hue with UV and the olive goes right along with it. Maybe I’m imagining that coz I’m biased!

I absolutely love my WG olive. The RG olive is a stunner as well, but I prefer white metals. I understand the sentiment of those saying "wg is a waste, might as get ss" but they're not equal. You can't get a SS DD olive. Yes, you can get a DJ on jubilee with a different color dial which may resemble a DD, but its not the same thing.

WG owners buy for themselves. I have 2 PM pieces and both are WG. I'm simply not a YG or RG guy. Many feel like that's a waste of money, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Love my WG olive and if I had the chance to pick the WG or the RG, I'd pick the WG every time. That being said, the RG olive is beautiful and will go down as one of, if not the most, sought after DD. You can't go wrong.

I didnt mean to come off pertentious in anyway and I wholeheartedly respect your opinion. I also wouldnt say wg owners buy for themselves as if RG, PLAT, YG or SS dont buy for themselves also. I just find that WG owners main reason is for this illusion that WG flies under the radar not because of the looks just my two cents.

I didn't take offense at all. A lot of people have the same opinion. There is no denying that WG or PLAT flies under the radar more than YG or RG however.

I don't think buyers of YG or RG don't buy for themselves, but many buyers of WG would prefer to be more low key. That's all I meant.

Obviously everyone has their own preference. I know plenty who wear YG and RG. They love them - good for them. I love my WG - good for me.

To each his own. I just prefer WG.

Here is the warning: White gold will work with anyone’s skin tone. It’s bright and clean. Rose gold is rich but it must work with your skin tone for you NOT to get tired of it. I would feel better for the OP if he already owned a piece with rose gold so he knows if it works with his skin tone.

At this price point, I think we are well beyond worrying about impressing others. If you want to do that, you can do that for half the money and the general public wouldn’t know the difference. We are in high stakes level of your collection. You have to love it and it must be a extension of your personality and personal style. If you find the right watch, you won’t care about if other people notice the watch or think you’re flexing your wallet.

I may be biased because I own the RG and I think it's probably the most stunning watch in my collection.

When I tried on the WG at the AD I thought the dial got "washed" under the light and the green didn't really pop set against the white gold. It didn't really impress me in the flesh compared to the contrast against the RG.

I think the contrast with that dial looks outstanding against the RG. I personally wouldn’t get RG, I’d go YG, but that’s just my personal preference. I’ve had the WG version and it is subtle with the olive dial. I would think the green pops more with the RG, but it’s a very quiet green.
My choice would come down to WG vs YG ...and I’d choose solely on what else I had in my collection at the time.

Love both. I'd lean slightly towards rose if I had the choice.

WG for me by a long shot. I have the WG/Silver romans and if I were to get another DD40, it would definitely be the WG/Meteorite. (Very unpopular opinion, I realize, but I don't care much for the RG.)

With that said, try them both on if you can. I bought my brother a 116518LN (YG/Champagne/oysterflex.)

I made the mistake of trying it on and I actually loved it. Prior to this, I would have never considered YG. But. A 116518LN Newman dial is on my short list now...

Take the RG. This is a DD, after all. No need to go into the ‚under the radar direction‘ with this watch...;)

Agreed. This sounds like a punt, but you have to try both watches on. We have “warm” and “cool” skin tones, so yellow metal or white metal (whether silver, SS or WG) look better on some than on others. Rose gold is very dependent on the skin tone of the wearer. I love the looks of the Rolex Rose gold, and I tried on a DD in Vegas a few years ago, and it didn’t pop on my wrist. If I chose from photos, it would be Rose gold, but based on how it looks on me, WG would look better for me.

Rose gold is a stunner, so if it looks good on you, go for it!

I have never sold a watch from my collection and never intend to, but which piece a) do people prefer ( and I know it’s my choice, but looking for opinion) and b) which do people think would be the “best” long term hold ( again, fully aware property/ stocks etc offer a better return and I probably won’t ever let it go- just want opinion!)
Thanks a lot!
I have the wg olive. love it but i have a daytona everose.

Get the Rose gold but either you must
