I don't like pcl primarily because the brushed rolex bracelet is so lustrous in appearance it almost seems to glow. I've seen lots of other watches with some mirror finish on the bracelet, but the brushed oyster is special imo.

I'm a fan of PCL's :)
Actually I'm a fan of FPL (fully polished links), but only a dress watch like a datejust. On a tool watch (not including the YM), brushed is definatley the way to go. Dont worry about brushing you PCLs, anything can be reversed, provided that the polishing or brushing wasnt OVERKILL haha |

I love the way PCL complements the look of GMTIIc.... And I am trying my best now to minimise the scrathes on my watch...

I am trying the same now, but I fear that scratches are inevitable.

Scratches are inevitable, but we all know what we're letting ourselves in for when we carefully research our choices and reach out to forums like these for guidance and advice.
As has been said many times over, everything that Rolex does is for a reason and the inclusion of PCL's on a s/s watch as great as the GMT IIc is would not of been made rashly or taken lightly. Rolex have always been the trendsetters and pioneers in the field that we all love. The s/s GMT IIc in all it's intended glory looks absolutely stunning and I truly believe you lose it's total beauty by brushing those PCL's. The thing to be remembered is that they are going to get scratched, but virtually all of them will be invisible by those who see the watch on your wrist or if it is at a distance. That's why the Rolex service should make every Rolex owner wear their watch as intended because the quality after service the watches come back to their owners like is just like opening a brand new watch all over again. I've never been an advocate of changing something that was intended when it was factory shipped. For me, and many others, PCL's just work on the GMT IIc. Enjoy your watches guys and keep the faith! |

I have two watches with PCL's, I like it on my TT Blusey, I hate them on the Daytona. I agree the PCL's work on dress models, not so much on everyday models

Other than on my Seadweller, the PCL goes really well with my Daytona.

I am not a fan of PCLs either. That is the only thing that is keeping me away from the Milgauss.

I am a daily wearer and my last three Rolexes did not have PCL's on their bracelets. My new GMT IIc does and I love them. When my watch goes in for it's service I will have them polish all the links to original. I agree with an earlier thread - go buy another bracelet with brushed links and store the original in the box. There are posts on other watch fora where people are scrubbing their PCL's with brillo pads. That, in my mind, would be like taking out your green 24 hr hand and painting it blue.

No I think the PCL look dressier. I don't have much opportunity to dress nicely (mostly jeans and T-shirts). I'm pretty rough on watches and the brushed links hide more too. Brushed vs polished links made the decision on my last watch.

The polished center links are okay if they have a little disclaimer on each one stating, "objects in mirror are larger than they appear".

At first, I wanted to brush my PCL as soon as I got my watch, but I felt it was a waste to do that so I just left it alone. Now, it's definitely growing on me. When it gets beat up like crazy, I may brush it, but for now, I'm happy with it.
