You have a terrific collection. You don’t really need a PP sport watch if you don’t want it. I was just making a suggestion for a blue dial. I like sports model as they are comfortable to wear. My next step will be to get into grand complications. I am looking forward to getting 5712 (hope it works out) this year and then I will be done with sports models.

I need a good sport watch.....Patek!

Most my sport (or semi sport) watches are Rolexes (two tones and a few stainless steels) but among them my favorites are: GMT II green dial, yellow gold, Sky-Dweller and my stolen white gold daytona....I wonder if these are considered sport watches or not, i do wear'em galloping around anyways. At the end of the day, I'd rather trade most other Rolexes and get a 5712 at a reasonable up-charge. Rolex SD.jpg Rolex set.jpg Yacht Master small size.jpg |

Great, eclectic collection. I'm sure it is unpleasant to relive, but how did your daytona get stolen? You also mentioned a mugging where your watch was overlooked. Did these two incidents happen in the town of Yonder?

On the Rolex side, i'm like if buying about 10 units of watches from y'all is not enough to make me a semi-preferred customer, what would? or when is it my turn for a Daytona? Not a single "favor" except espressos at the shop. I don't know why i think of PeeWee Herman whenever i read San Antonio! |

The 5172G partners the 5320G perfectly. The 5172G blue is dark dusty and black in many lights. They describe it on the papers as ‘vernis bleu arabes or Gris SLN’. It is a really attractive dark but not navy blue far more subtle and tasteful.
As for the AD back door theory, I agree. There must be cartloads of them doing that. I doubt the quality ADs would risk it although there might be some senior staff members willing to go down that road with their mates now and again. |

Daytona, in all honesty i do not want to think or make false accusations...but the only person who was close to the watch while idiot me yondering around the yonder was a repair person. Reported the event to the police and Rolex. I'm sure we will never find it. The thought of it still pisses me off, mainly because I feel like the idiot I was. Mugging - i was minding my own business walking one evening and talking on the phone (good neighborhood).....all it took was a hit on my head and grabbing the phone. Easy target. Police came and were real kind and helpful. It could have been a lot worse, i.e. my Patek or worse a head injury...all well. No bad feelings towards anyone on the mugging - three idiot teenagers who need better parenting. Y'all see now riding a horse is safer than walking. |

Yes, glad you are safe. Ridiculous pettiness for a phone. Most remember to not yodel down yonder. |

I have always wanted a Datograph (but the original 39mm), however, if the 5320 turns out to be what I envision to be. I would like to get a matching 5172g since I think there will always be a Datograph in some form and ALS may even revert back to a 39mm in the future. But the 5320 matching 5172g may get replaced with a different variation in another 2-3 years. And I also love the blue and causal elegant look of the 5172g. Any thoughts? |

I am always open to any NEW Nautilus and Aquanaut at a reasonable market price (somewhat over the retail) not this crazy inflated prices. For now, i make decisions based on my lack of potential success in obtaining either. In the meantime, if i get lucky enough, i will happily welcome them to my humble collection and gallop to the opportunity.

It is virtually the same size as the 5320 40mm to the 41mm 5172 although slightly thicker. Unusually they are a PP pair. They don’t look much different in size on the wrist.
Like you, I speculate that in 3 or 4 years one or other of them will be altered, most probably the Chrono if the past is any guide. A future pairing of Perp and a Chrono seems unlikely? |

I am surprised your AD cannot help with some form or another of a Nautilus when you have just bought 3 watches recently. |

Exactly my thought. My guess is that the 5172 replacement will likely not be a match for the 5320 anymore. On the other hand, the 39mm Platinum Datograph is a watch which has been on my bucket list since it was introduced 20 years ago. I guess I can wait another 20 years |

If the answer is none then the AD won't be tempted to allocate one for you. you have to give the AD business so that they allocate you desired pieces. however, if you buy your dress pieces from grey market and feed that market, then you shouldn't expect to go for your AD just to get the highly desired steel piece.

Have you seen 5205G blue? I have seen it and i have seen the sunburst shade of blue/black in it and love it. If you have seen it, how do you see it different from 5712g? Thank you again. |

Thanks y'all for your y'all's help.
I decided on 5205G blue. After this certainly focus will shift to Patek sports. |

LOL that funny. CountryBoy I like your style, old school remind me of my old man (no offence, for all I know you might be my junior, I am 43). I think your choice 5205G with blue dial is gorgeous. I plan to make it my first PP when I hit major milestone in couple of years. Enjoy your watches in good health.
