Yes it sucks and feels like they're swindling us, but this all I've ever encountered after visiting many AD's. So I don't quite understand your statement saying this is not how it works, please point me in the right direction.
What you're saying makes sense only if the AD sells directly to a flipper. However, for someone like myself who is purchasing a watch to enjoy, it does not feel like they handed me 15k profit on my BLRO purchase last month. To me, since I will likely never sell it, they took my 11,400 + HST and my bank account reflects that. I do feel this is the reason that the "good" ADs try their best to vet their clients as to not sell to flippers.

Also, I have a "purchase history" of exactly 1 datejust 41 steel, fluted, with blue dial (~11k + HST?) and this was for my brother, I just set it up and facilitated the transaction (in a way). Technically I spent $0 at my AD in GTA, so if what you said is true, this AD was feeling very generous to give away cash that day.

However, I do get what you're saying, it's just a very narrow approach in my view. I acknowledge that some ADs do think like this though. Unfortunate. I hope you find a better AD that won't play these games and make you feel as though they are handing you money if they deem you worthy enough for a "hot" model!

All of the ADs I’ve interacted with know secondary market prices.

There are some AD’s who will do the favour, just like when I bought my 114060. But it’s extremely rare, our cases are very special situations where the sales rep may take a special likening to us, or try to hook us to the AD with a nice taste.

It might not feel like they’ve given you cash, but they have, in a way it’s almost like buying a gold coin at a discount, you’ve exchanged your cash for the gold and now it’s susceptible to market fluctuations.

FWIW and YMMV: I went to an AD in the DFW, Texas area late last month and purchased a M126331-0002 - which he stated had been in the case for less than a day. I made the purchase and came back the following week inquiring - looking to purchase Tudor Black Bay Chrono M7936N-0001N for my son's graduation. The AD "recommended" I pay for the watch "in-full" and wait. "Maybe you will get the watch in 6 months..." This is after I spent >$12K the prior week. So, moral of the story - if you think you can waltz into an AD and "pick-up" a Hulk, Daytona, 216570, Batman, whatever... your chances are slim-to-none. even after spending your discretionary income at the "AD." If you really want/need to have a specific time-piece, find a good-reputable Grey/Gray Market Dealer - and bite the proverbial bullet and hope the pricing remains stable. FYI - I picked up an 168000 from Betteridge Jewelers in Greenwich, CT for $USD 800.00 in 1986 and they are selling for $10,000 on "chrono24."

I think it depends on the AD. My AD said they don't want to sell to flippers and only sell to locals. It also helped that my wife had bought jewelry here. Things like bands and wedding rings. Probably was a 2-3k.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but If you don't have any AD history forget it. A smart AD today will however be transparent and take your number, give you a magazine and mention how hard it is to get while at the same time try to set up the groundwork to make you feel you have a chance If you buy some jewelry, perhaps for a special occasion like an anniversary If your married (as they notice your ring). 2018 and 19 were hard enough, now long gone. Today in 2021 I don't even believe in good timing by chance anymore when it comes to buying a new SS sports from an AD.

If I had to spend 25k to get a Batman at an AD I would just buy at secondary if that’s what I wanted
