I refuse to do this anymore. If AD don’t want to sell me pieces why should I play there game. I now go straight to my grey dealer who will get me whatever I want within a week or so.

People should stop playing the AD game.

You're just as likely to pick one up in SF as anywhere in Hawaii. I have a long purchase history with a SA at an AD in Hawaii and have been asking on a regular basis (without being a pest, I hope). There are no Rolex s/s available to mere mortals at this point in time. The hint is that maybe in the fall things will improve.

Go grey or private if you want it "now".

When in HI, my wife and I may browse stores after we grab dinner. Time away from the kids is nice! We both visit some touristy shop. I bring us in to visit the watch stores, including Rolex. She brings me in to visit Louis Vuitton.

Last two times…she ended up with a LV wallet and then a purse the second time. Me? Nada

C’est la vie!

I hear this from people but it doesn’t always work out. You can buy from the same AD for years, then wait for something really special only to be told one day they lost their Rolex franchise.

Loads of people spend 100k….many 100k per year.
Not all get a Daytona.

ADs in big cities will have hundreds of customers all spending at least this level. London will have spenders over the million mark. 100k spend in London/NYC etc won’t make you a VIP client.

Not really. All Daytonas are in high demand now. Certain parts of the world might have lower demand for TT Daytonas than others but i wouldnt expect to see any Daytona sitting in a display case

Depends on the AD. If its a Ladies Size with a few diamonds, maybe.
If you're thinking of a 41 Blue Dial, Jubilee with Fluted Bezel, then, no (and you wont be able to get one of those at an AD either)

As someone who lives in Honolulu I know that the ADs would prefer to sell in demand models and build relationships with locals. You never know, though, maybe you’ll get lucky and strike oil.

I'd say you are off by at least a factor of 2.

Walked by 3 dealers the last 5 days. Ladies gold and a few two toned. That was it. Oh and one Cellini.

I visited an AD when I was in Maui in 2019. The rep was very nice however made it clear that a stainless daytona was not going to happen. They did have a TT Daytona on the shelf.

Was in Maui a few weeks ago. Went to both Baron and Leeds (tourneau) locations and they had about 6 rolex between them. Spoke with an SA. Full payment would guarantee you a PM, but no guarantee of any kind on actual lead time. No deposits taken for SS.

Yeah I saw one of those in Wailea in 2019. Black dial. +18K. The SA acted like I was walking away from a winning lottery ticket. (This was when the same watch was on C24 for 14ish). THOSE days are definitely over.

What’s PM? So you pay full price for a watch and wait for god knows how long to get it?

There is no platinum Sub. There is a platinum Daytona, and yes it's hard to get.

If there was some magic formula to buy stuff that sells for $20,000 at just $10,000 that just required patience and popping in to chat, don't you think someone would have figured it out by now?

Very doable especially for a DJ28. Ask for Ryan at the Wailea shops

How to buy any SS Rolex in Hawaii?

I would just go in and ask, if the AD is convenient to what you’re doing otherwise. I got my BLNR from Hawaii with no purchase history.

Alternatively, take the difference between the AD MSRP and the DavidSW price, offer to buy some other jewelry for the difference, and maybe walk out with a new Rolex.
Just spitballin’

Well, if you are going to do this, be sure to knock 50% off DSW's price so you'll be closer to the real market value

I was actually able to get my 116710BLNR in Maui in 2019. At the time I also bought my wife a lady’s datejust to form the “relationship”.
