Is it worth the premium? Worth will very from person to person. All depends on how bad you want it and even that can very depending on your finances. I own the BLRO and the BLNR and to me, its not worth a penny over retail. But again thats easy for me to say considering I bought both at retail. Now if you really want the watch and the premium isn’t a problem then GO FOR IT. Do not worry about if you’re going to lose money if you plan on wearing it and enjoying it. True watch lover do not look at watches as an investment. We buy to wear, not to sell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Will the current speculative value of the Pepsi wane or increase? Anyone who attempts to, or feels that they can offer a definitive answer would be so ridiculously rich, having previously predicted Amazon, Google or Teslas meteoric rises, that they’re unlikely to be participating on this thread.

It's a non-income producing asset and a luxury good. If you have the means and willing to speculate, you can do what makes you happy!

Welcome to TRF. Whether or not you should buy grey depends on your level of patience, connections you have with ADs, and level of disposable income. Imagine you buy the BLRO at grey market prices now - will you feel like a sucker later had you waited? Good luck with your decision. Personally, I’m trying the AD route so we’ll see how it goes.

If you can afford it, buy it. But don’t buy it with regards to future market value: it’s only how much it’s worth to you.

If there is no other way then that is the price, so you're in the same boat as most of the gen pop who don't want to spend 3 or 4 grand on a Omega or Breitling tho they may have the cash somewhere, so the question is is the price worth it to you, and if there is no other watch you want more at that price then go for it.

I’m in the same boat as you, really want that particular reference but probably never going to get offered one from an AD but…..
Pay someone £10,000 profit !! When Mrsp is £7750 I just can’t do that, it hurts too much. |

Also remember that it's a bit like cars when it comes to buying and selling watches.
If you buy a watch from a grey for £15k - they probably gave the previous owner £11k-£12k. Markup is about 30% in my personal experience. So if your buying it to keep its one thing. But in answer to your original question its another. Personally I would sooner buy a Tudor or Omega at retail than largely inflated grey Rolex prices. That said, I have bought 3 'new' stickered Rolex from greys many years ago......as they used to sell them at a discount! |

Maybe I am applying a deluded sentiment to all this, but paying grey market prices is just paying the market value for that watch at the current time. Sure it’s a bummer you couldn’t pay MSRP, but you could say that about property? I’m not going to buy that house because 10 years ago it was worth considerably less.

You may gain some, you may lose some. People have been talking about a bubble for a long time, but AD inventory is laughable at best. While I do foresee a possible decline at some point, but the watch will never be worth $0. There are goods that depreciate faster like cars, but I believe a Rolex will be relatively stable.

No and yes.
You are unlikely to sell a used watch at the same premium that an established seller can get for a new watch.

May I ask why the part about the "obnoxious people bragging" had to be included in your response? It seems irrelevant to OPs post, and also to your response for that matter. Dare I say, it seems obnoxious?
