A quick question on operation of the Sub. I believe the spring has a clutch so that overwinding is not possible. If the watch stopped, how many turns of the dial gets it close to full power reserve. Thank you for the help. New to automatic/manual watches.m

Rolex says a message minimum of 25 turns is needed to achieve partial power winding. A Rolex regional rep for the NE US told me to wind it 30 times from a stopped movement. It does have a clutch that prevents over winding however a very knowledgeable watchmaker I know who works on Rolex regularly told me not to overwind it for some reason he didn’t elaborate on. Perhaps to avoid wear on the clutch. Perhaps someone else can elaborate on this topic. |
