I do wonder if @rolexest remembers creating this thread? No matter, those are some amazing watches! Makes me wish I had more money and time!

Wow I am drooling over this photo. What an amazing collection. What's the story behind these watches? How did you come about finding them?

The variety and rarity of vintage is what gets me. People talk about ‘limited edition’ modern Rolex, but they are often made in their hundreds of thousands over a period of a decade and people desperately try to find subtle font differences to make them seem special. However when you look at the 6202, for example, you’d be hard pushed to find two with the same dial and hand combination from the 18 months they were made.

Vintage takes a bit more research to find what you want, to learn about it and to find a great example. Modern just requires that you look on Instagram to see what the cool kids are wearing and then hit up a grey market seller for a ‘me too’ watch.

Not saying I don’t like modern Rolex, I have a few, but they aren’t as exciting as the older ones!
Beautiful! I especially love that 1655 of yours.

Fair enough lol. Honestly I know its not correct but 5 digits are vintage enough for me to classify them as such

That Daytona is something special. Give me that over a modern one any day. The pricing one them is unbelievable. Were you lucky enough to grab it before the craze?

3. Tudor 79180 Big Block Chronometer
4. Tudor 79090 Submariner

All have correct bracelets. I rotate #2-4 monthly, but the GMT is worn only occasionally. I almost never removed the GMT from my wrist for the first 45 years.
I would love to add a 1675 to my collection. There's such a charm to the worn bezel. Canadian Military Tudor Sub is also on my list but I am having such a difficult time sourcing one.

That no crownguard sub is spectacular. What reference is that?

The 1016 is honestly one of my favorite vintage Rolex's. I love its simplicity.

Thank you. My Dad bought it new for $235 52 years ago. I’ve had it since ‘83.

Wow isn't that amazing. It's pretty unobtainable for me in today's world. Even more special that it was your dad's.
