I wanted a Sub half my life. When I finally decided to buy one I found the 6 digits just didn't look like the watch I had been thinking about all that time. For some reason I really dislike the ceramic bezel. And while I appreciate the technical achievement of the glidelock I don't like the look of the clasp.

I really miss my 5 digit sub (SD). I think it was my favorite watch I ever had. Only reason I let it go is I’m waiting for the current LV. I keep second guessing myself though. I’m sure I’ll add one back eventually. The 5 digit subs are some of the best by far.

Lovely pictures everyone that posted.

I have a smaller wrist and the 6 digit just looked totally bloated.

They're the last of the best. I particularly like the 2 line 14060(m).

Nice watches and shots here!
Here is my 16610 from 2009 bought brand new at the time. Compared to 6 digits I love the case proportions that are perfect, V brushing on lugs, chamfers / bevels, and aluminium bezel shades/ fades.

Thanks, I can’t remember where the strap came from. It’s just a one piece perlon. It’s a good looking combo but for me it’s not so comfortable. Wear mostly on a Tropic Rubber strap these days.

To my eye the Black SS 5 digit sub is the best looking of all Submariners. When you start talking about variations in 2 tone, gold and different colored faces I think the wider ceramic bezel looks better but in the simple SS black sub the proportions on the 11610 just look right to my eye. Iconic. IM0 the best sub is the simplest one in black and SS. If you want to get some color in the equation I'd go GMT but for me the SUB and SD are tool watches and should remain true to purpose. PM in Sub never made a whole lot of sense to me.....the Sub is a watch you can take anywhere and do anything with and beat the crap out of and it still looks and runs great. I know that from experience.

If 6 digits a are better in every way, why do most of my 3235 watches run 5-6 seconds slow a day vs my 4 and 5 digits which run pretty much spot on? That is a if we are including accuracy as a part of being better.

How long have 5 digit watches (and 4 digit for that matter) been around and tanking all the world has to throw at them vs...??
