Greedy for who? Are you asking her to buy you the other two watches? And so what if she’s a successful model. Unless your point was that she can afford to buy these watches for you

To answer the questions, no I'm not going to be flipping now or selling down the road. I've always wanted those three GMTs in my collection.
And my contribution is she gets her treats... Apparently he has quite a few older Rolexes NIB in his safe that he occasionally sells to good friends as I understand it. She has been a customer of his for awhile and he really likes her. I don't have a clue what other watches are in his safe since I'm only interested in those three GMTs and that's all she mentioned to him and those are the only ones he brought out to show her. Maybe they were the ones that weren't selling when they first came out? I'm leaning towards asking her to pick the other two up for me, since if he brought all three out to show her he may be okay with selling all three. I'd like to buy them but don't want to look greedy or ungrateful that he sold her the Coke. I guess in March she can tell him how much I liked the Coke and wanted to buy the black and Batman if he would consider selling them to me, through her. |

Are you paying market prices or MSRP? In the case of the coke, are you paying 2007 pricing?

I’d ask her to get a NOS 6263 since you are developing an interest in Daytonas. Worst case, all the dealer has to sell to friends is a NOS 16520. Get it in white if you get screwed out of the 6263. Oh, and can’t wait until you figure out how to post pics, so you can upload a pic of your model gf wearing only a GMT.
I’m totally buying all of this!

Quite the story for your fourth day on the forum and being new to collecting (I saw your post in another thread about the “points” system ADs have and guys being dumb enough to spend money on pieces they don’t want to get those they do).

OP’s brief history here has an amazing range of random consistency. He will lose the 2007 new Coke by shovelling snow soon.

OP - the Coke hasn't been produced for years and years. The chances the AD here in Dubai has it are lower than the chances of me walking in and buying a steel Daytona from the display cabinet. Allocations are dealt with by head office, not by the particular dealership. I'd be very surprised if one of the branches managed to keep a 15 year old Coke under wraps. If they did, it would probably go to somebody high up in society.
There's two possible scenarios: 1 - the seller is a grey dealer and has a 5 digit Coke available as NOS. Prices will be astronomical. 2 - the seller is the AD chain Seddiqi and what the OP says is a 'Coke' (last produced many moons ago) is not a Coke but is something else. |

Is this being greedy? I'm not sure of the proper protocol.
See if she can help you get yourself another successful model then you will have two, asks new super model to get you the other watch and then you Da' Man!

Geez. I wrote that she's a model working in that part of the world to avoid answering the "what the hell is your gf doing in Dubai and how does she know a jeweler there" questions, so instead I get the "why did you tell us your gf's a model" questions...
As to price I don't know because it was a gift and I didn't ask. I will find out what he wants for the other two when I inquire, along with the circumstances of why he has NIB older models, and which others he has, just out of curiosity, but you can be sure I won't be posting it here. I was hoping to get advice from the intelligent,. knowledgeable enthusiasts here ( thank you for your responses) but hadn't planned on attracting the lowest common denominator element. Too bad, because if he had other desirable references available maybe someone here could've gotten one and saved themself a year or two of begging and groveling at their AD's feet while buying DJs and Omegas they don't like or want... There's one everywhere you go. Last edited by Wing No; 7 February 2022 at 05:57 PM.. Reason: Spelling |

I don't see how that would qualify as greedy. We're not talking rationed bread during post war recovery.
