Tough question - I think they make a great pair…
Sub for me offers better functionality with date and timing bezel. Explorer is super versatile and I find it more comfortable to wear… Of the two, I think I’d choose the sub. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Most will say the Sub and that’s a fantastic choice. My brother wears an 114060. I’d take the Explorer every time.

Both are great watches and I can’t fault either.
Ideally, being able to have one of each would be my choice. However if push came to shove, I would keep the Sub. |

I’d choose the EXP - much more understated.

Both are excellent choices for a one and only and daily wear Rolex. IMHO the Exp feels much better and is a bit more under the radar. It’s absolutely an amazing watch. With that being said, I lean towards the Sub as my pick for a o & o.

I kinda misread it I think... Do you mean that you don't anticipate the Sub getting as much wrist time as the Exp or that you don't anticipate any wrist time for the Exp in the future?

As much as I love the Explorer 39mm, it is the classic 36mm Explorer size that is iconic so I would go Submariner.

I’ve owned a 114060 ND Sub and currently own an Explorer 39 mk2 that I wear almost daily. Both great watches but Explorer wins out imo.

I like the sub better but the Explorer dresses up better for more versatility.

Of the 2, I'd go Sub. Out of all the Rolex watches in the universe, I'd be stuck between the 16710 and 116688. The 16710 wins by a hair because its so versatile.

OK, I refused to pick earlier but because of comfort, weight, size, style and did I say comfort?
The Explorer 214270 and it's not even close! (I don't mean that but since others are saying that about the Sub, in the interest of fairness...

The sub - any model, any year. Not just one of the best Rolex ever made, but one of the best watches ever made.

The sub is probably my favorite Rolex of all time. But if it was one watch only, probably th explorer. I think its just more versatile.

Sub no date vs 39mm Explorer?
- The Sub, because i only would pick the 36mm Explorer over jt. I don't like the 39mm Explorer. |

https://www.watchpouch.nl Great service offered by Wesley - I have bought 6 or 7 of these pouches, sometimes as gifts, and they’re always really well done! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

If you have more than 5 or 6 luxury watches it would be hard for me to not start with these 3. Forced to have just one, definitely the 39mm Explorer...Mk II please.
