Crown guards look lonely with no rotating/numbered bezel.

3230 is the new movement?
Which is used in Sub no date?
So the new AK is no longer the combination of Explorer (3,6,9 dial) and the Milgauss (movement)?!

Absolutely pointless update in my opinion I don’t like the crown guards and adding a “5” I just wouldn’t of bothered

Old AK has faraday cage, full gold 3,6,9 and quirky 5, This new one has crown guards which don't look good. Old Air King over the new Air King anytime.

I feel those upgrades do the watch justice, if I didn't have an AK 116900, I would get myself put on a list for this incarnation.

Great upgrades! Here’s hoping Andy Green gets to see the Mach meter of similar design
on the fun side of supersonic again.

The dial is a let down I guess. The case an improvement and I actually like the crown guards.
I guess we all expect too much from the mighty R. They don't really think like collectors and enthusiasts.

Me too Grady. IMOP, still a fun watch with upgrades.
  1. Without the faraday cage, this should sit easier on the wrist.
  2. Nice to see they upgraded the movement.
  3. I also like the added lume on the dial and the 05, instead of 5 seconds. Looks more balanced.
  4. And to be honest, I was disappointed that my old AK did not have a safety clasp.

So, for me, this is an improvement of what I already considered a great watch. And at $7,400 US, it is fairly reasonable, if you can find one.

I never like Air King, I have pretty much every single sport stainless steel model but Air King and Explorer until now. I might add 2022 Air King to the stable.

Glad I sold my 116900 for a profit. This new AK seems much better. I’d love to get my hands on one as a keeper! Crown guards look nice, more symmetrical dial, easier to read 3/6/9 with lume. Apparently improved lume overall. Better clasp and refined bracelet proportions. A steal at $7,400 retail price if it can be obtained.

The new Air-King looks great, on first impressions not much different from the now older model, however, delve into the detail and there are raft of small but positive changes. Which overall make this a much better proposition.

Hopefully this means any new or updated Milgauss in the future will have it's own outright design!

To me, making the 3 6 and 9 with lumes, adding a flip lock and crown guard, thinner case etc just feels like Rolex have made a 40mm Explorer, but with silly minute markers.

Overall, lazy by Rolex!
