Very true. I remember when the JC Deep-sea came out, there were literally PAGES of vitriol-filled threads...oh my goodness. You would've thought the watch was an affront to all things sacred in the world of horology. And that's nothing compared to when the original LV-C was introduced. Yikes.
However, I'm going to watch what happens with the new GMT with interest. Yes, there is a ton of backlash, but something tells me this might be different than the usual TRF tidal wave of hate followed by multitudes of joyous incomings. Speaking for myself only, the crown on the left side of the case is a deal breaker, (as much as I tried to love my Pelagos LHD, I could never get past that) and that doesn't even take into account the date window at the 9 o'clock position. Let's face it, watches are about aesthetics as well as performance, and, well, I think there is a core of enthusiasts who will never, ever warm up to that piece. Just my two cents. |

I've never heard so many complaints in a while compared to the new Gmt. I spoke with my AD today about possibly doing some buying and selling. He's at Watches and Wonders still and tried on the new leftie Gmt and everyone seems to be giving it a thumbs down

I’ve slept on it - it’s still hideous. In fact, I think it might be uglier today than it was yesterday. Of course, it will sell like hot cakes though because people just lap it all up. Thankfully, I am not one of those people.

I think it is pretty cool and look forward to getting one. So different will be a fun change of pace watch.
