Traded BLNR for Two Tone Sub

I’d have personally just put my name down for the sub TT and had both watches from the same AD. But everybody is different. You did what made you happy and it appears to have worked out very well.

Don’t let a Karen spoil your day.

Are you there to enjoy the watch? Or the secondary resale price.

The TT submariner is high on the list of what to get next. Its a beautiful watch.

The BLNR is harder to replace at retail.

I do not agree with your friend.

These are my top 2 pieces Id like to get (aside from my sub c which is my #1) so youre money either way in my book with the TT and booking a profit in the process as I see it.
Great move in my opinion.

Good move. You got 25k? What does your friend think? It's going to appreciate to a 30k, 40k, 50k watch?

It actually WAS an investment piece and you profited.

Does your friend have watches or is he an armchair quarterback?

As for being a better watch? Ask your friend how long a piece of string is?

All in all I was able to move watches and pocket about 9k.

I was speaking to a watch friend of mine and he called me an idiot for doing this move. Saying that the BLNR is a “much better watch” and “I threw away an investment piece”

I usually don’t let shit like that get to me. But it got me wondering.

Was this a dumb move? I already have a 2022 Submariner ND and a Omega Speedmaster Professional. So I felt like I was pretty set on SS pieces. Wanted to add some gold and felt this was a good move.

Would love the communities opinion

I have this reference for the last month and LOVE it - I feel it gets over shadowed by the Bluesy - but it’s my favorite for an everyday watch with some extra warmth - I may add the Bluesy some day as a collector’s price and to change it up - but love the black as my go to!!

Good beach watch too ;) just posted about it

Let’s see you already made 150% ROI and you know have a piece that you prefer, hmmm sounds like you were already paid from the “investment”... How much more upside does your friend think the BLNR has and over what duration, minus your enjoyment level.

As my dad says, Pigs get Fed and Hogs get Slaughtered.

I think you did great. Enjoy!

Personally I wouldn’t have made that trade . However if I was looking for a two tone dive watch and if I wasn’t looking specifically for the bluesy, I would have gotten the two tone SD4. IMHO it’s a much nicer piece than the submariner . Feels more balanced and it really isn’t that much bigger . I also like the aesthetics of ceramic bezel and the gold writing on the dial . Fortunately I don’t have to ponder that type of trade because I am blessed to own both .

Good move. Very good move.

It’s these “investors”…LOL…that are the problem with the current Rolex market in the first place.

Love the idea of this - I strongly considered the TT SD43 BUT trying it on the proportions weren’t trust right for me vs the Sub - sick reference for those that can rock it

You must like the tt more than the BLNR. End of day you pocketed $9k and got the watch you like more. I would have done the same.

Ahhhh the "do-what-makes-you-happy" comment. Always enlightening. I had a feeling OP was just about to do the opposite. Whewww, that was close.

I think he is here because he is seeking a second opinion: yours.

Here is my opinion. They're both great watches and you got to experience both for the price of one. That's the magic of Rolex. Don't look back.

You made a nice profit, rolled it into a TT sub… and walked away with $9k? No brainer to me. You essentially got the sub for free! Good move! Congrats and wear it in good health.

To answer your question: yes it was a dumb move. The blnr is a beaut. Two tone sub is not. But you asked. Enjoy.

I’m not a fan of any TT, but you are and you used the current hype and others’ stupidity to upgrade to the watch you want. Sounds like a result to me.

I hate the jubilee band, I will never ever like it. That said, the sub is a more classic watch, plus you made out very well in terms of $$. I think you did a solid move.

The best case scenario would be to have both

However, i think you made the trade you felt was best for you.
So as long as you're happy, it was a great trade.

From a purely “watch collector” perspective, you did make the wrong move. However, if you’re not a “collector” you got what you wanted and pocketed extra cash … that’s awesome!

The GMT is the most practical tool watch of Rolex. Definitely more class than a TT dive watch and is better in more situations.

Nonetheless. All it matters is get the watch you like and not what others like.
