Yes, I actually went in to meet him on our first day.

And, yes to the question of location, it is the one next to the Shangri-La hotel.

The AD is based in Colombo Sri Lanka, and is an authorised dealer as I’d found the details on the Rolex website. Possibly l, due to the situation in the country, he is trying to make as much money as possible. Alarm bells rang a bit when I visited the store and they had not one Rolex on display.
AKCJ1 , please accept my apologies for comments I made when I first read and along with others I thought was April fool all over again ! However an AD such as this one does need reporting .

Have you asked locally? The customs, habits, red lines and consumer law shouldn't be hard to ascertain if you're actually in the middle of it.

Since the country appears headed for economic meltdown and heaven knows what else in the very near future, I'd let it go.

I received a reply a few weeks before going away that he had nothing at the moment it was getting stock of some watches, but didn’t know what yet, which was promising. On arrival at the store they had no stock, as in not even display models, none!! He said he’d be getting some stock in that week. As I was travelling to another part of the country I arranged to pop back before we flew home.
The dealer contacted me later in the week, and, to my surprise and excitement, he was getting a new Air-King. Here was the catch, he wanted double the retail price, and to be paid via bank transfer straight away?? Is this normal, and r even standard practice? Should I be wary of this? I have declined his number ver, and have heard nothing since from the dealer.
If this actually happened, you can and should report the AD to Rolex HQ with proof of messages.....

I thought I read from few older posts in certain Asian ADs.
They mark up prices from MSRP... I believe it was HK or Vietnam?
BC people will still pay due to limited avail. on any SS models.
