So the 136660 is the “new redesign” of the DSSD, but very minor changes. Date window is marginally larger, and they added AR coating to the crystal to help with glare. There is also mention of the bezel being thinner, but the overall watch thickness stayed the same. For me and lots of other watch aficionados here on TRF the biggest drawback was the elimination of the fliplock in the clasp. It’s designed to allow you to open the watch up wider to fit over your wetsuit when diving. For me it just provides a nice balance to the weight of the piece, but apparently many with smaller wrists were taking theirs out anyway. I’m a big guy so having a larger bracelet is nothing I complain about lol but that’s part of why they did the minor re-design. Which is better is up to you.

Wise decision!
Get some pics below the surface. Where do you dive?

The reference 126660 was a current model until a month or so ago and will not be supplied by Rolex going forward. It was made between 2017 and now.
The reference 136660 is the latest and will be the current one going forward.
The first reference was the 116660 which was made between 2008 and 2017 and replaced by the 126660.

They are all different in quite substantial ways but pretty much functionally the same in that the depth rating is the same with a rotating divers bezel and as one would expect they basically tell the time.
Hope that answers your question

Thank You. I don’t dive to be honest. I am a bigger guy and just love the light blue to black dial and just love how it sits on my wrist to be honest.

Congrats ona great purchase. For the group…does the 13 model still have the upgraded glide lock where it can be adjusted by the clasp?

You see?
It's your new best friend that chose you, not the contrary!
He did a good choice!

Absolutely worth it. Esp bc you have the size for it. He’s giving you a deal. Take him out for steaks and bottle of unreasonably expensive whiskey.

Congratulations. That's a lovely watch.
I loved these in 2d on the internet. But in 3d when I tried one on in the AD I decided it was too bulky for me.
