When something as expensive as a Rolex is brand new, there should be zero visible defects. Nobody is infallible, so the crunch comes with the quality of after sales service. It sounds like you've been let down twice.

Define visible. A loupe or microscope will show imperfections in anything that otherwise appears perfect.

i would have brought this issue up with my AD and would expect them to make it right somehow before sending it to RSC if it was like this the day you bought it

About 2 months after I got my new kermit in 2021, I noticed a smudge of dust on one of the dates (on the date wheel). I sent it back to RSC dallas and they cleaned it. Been running great before and after. No issues. Its worth it if it will bother you.

The smudge you can notice with the naked eye under certain lightning, same with the speck of dust.

What would/wouldn't be worth it would likely depend on whether it was a true smudge (paint imperfection, scratch, etc.) or dust/lume fleck. The latter would make me more concerned since anything loose that's that small could theoretically get down into the movement and cause problems.

When did you buy this? Paid by cc? From AD? If they won’t sort you out the your cc should. If you paid with Amex, they will make it right.

For those following, Rolex basically accepts the dial smudge acceptable within their standards it seems and won't replace the dial but did clean it. I can't notice it anymore so that's a plus. I did get all the dust removed by the AD though, didn't have to send it back to RSC!
