I also owned the 116618LB and loved that watch. I recommend the 126618LB if you already have something in WG/SS. If not, go for the WG Sub for versatility.

I own the 19LB and it has become my go to watch, so awesome. However, I’m polling for the 18LB because that is a seriously bad a$$ watch if you have the stones to wear it.

I like the idea of wearing a "F' you" watch.. I guess I'm confident that way.

I prefer the blue dial with the TT Sub and the black dial on the all-YG Sub.

126618LB no hesitation , If you go for gold got to be yellow either blue dial or black its down to personal preference but blue for me ! In my view , I can't see the point in paying big money for gold when in my eyes it looks like Steel , stealth wealth not for me ! Good luck in your choice

If it were me….Your gmt is gold with black dial. If going YG, I’d stick with blue dial, as I think the black dial sub is fairly redundant. (I’m a big fan of the black dial/YG sub).
If going WG, I’d definitely look for the Smurf, as others have said. The blue bezel alone doesn’t justify the price on that one. Yes, I’m a WG fan, love the weight, and the exclusivity, only the owners know, etc….but a blue bezel isn’t enough for me on this one. I like my green bezel LV, as far as a white metal sub goes. In my experience, I’ve had both, the difference between the 11 and 12 series subs are negligible. I definitely wouldn’t shut out the 116619 because of the minute difference between the 11 and 12 series, and that’d be my choice in a WG sub

YG Black dial. Less flash as much panache.

126618LB (Yellow Gold / Blue) gets my vote. But my hunt would be for the 116618LB

It's the newer 3235 movement that interests me more than the less than 1mm size difference... that and the slightly wider bracelet..

But I hear your logic...

I think among average members of the public, the YG is always seen as "Better" and / or more cool... but among the Rolex aficionado (I find this especially true in the UK) there is almost a stigma to wearing gold because nobody wants to be seen as a "pick your pejorative" ... but for me, wearing yellow gold is almost a mark of extreme confidence... That said, I also do love the idea of stealth gold.. such that the average (non aficionado) just ASSumes you're wearing a steel watch.

I bought my 116618 LN 12 years ago. I still love it as much as the day I got it.

Honestly, can’t go wrong with a gold Submariner or Daytona, though. Get what turns you on.

My Submariner this morning:

thanks for sharing... it is definitely a "can't go wrong" watch... my only dellima is how close to the GMT II Root Bear it is..

As for the Daytona (this might be sacrilege), I have no desire to buy one.. a watch with no date, just doesn't feel complete for me.

I’ve had a few PM Subs. Have the 5-digit 16618LB as my YG piece and I do prefer it to the 116618LB (owned both).

I picked up the new WG last week and love it. FTR, I have the 126610LV, too. But, as with any PM, the 126619LB simply melts into the wrist with the satisfying heft of gold. Wears so well! But it could feel like a lot of $ for a blue bezel… I owned the Smurf 2X. Bought preowned at 19 and the second time it was 25. I liked it a lot, but I don’t miss it.

If you want a statement watch, 126618LB. If you don’t have any other PM Subs, go with YG. You’ll feel like you are “missing something” if you don’t have YG to begin with (IMO).

If you want an innocuous looking one, get the WG. I’ll be wearing mine again tomorrow.

well stated .. good logical argument made... I also noticed the 126619LB is selling for less on the gray market.. maybe I can get a better deal.

Gold and blue are very complimentary and pop on the Sub. Gold and black look better on a DJ!
