Is it true that rolex watches r seen from room away

I do think my new DJ41 is like a beacon sometimes. People might not say anything, but it sure is shiny. That’s for sure.

No one except WIS would ever notice this watch unless they are close enough to see the dial or clasp up close. That's the way I like it.

I've had more comments on my Fitbit than any Rolex I've owned.

And I like it that way.

This is correct. 99.99999% of people won’t even notice that you are wearing a watch and even of those that do, even fewer will know what it is.

People in the know with good eyes can. I had a guy walking towards me 10 feet away say nice watch while wearing my 116520 some years ago. Increasingly criminals are getting quite skilled at it as well.

I think it's easier to spot an Oyster bracelet from a distance than the case or dial.

In the eleven years I've been wearing a Rolex watch I've had two random people comment. Other than watch collectors (or thieves), I don't think people notice or care.

When it comes to watches my friends and family think I have more money than sense.

You do it for yourself. ...you can rarely see most of luxury watches in the wild and likewise watch enthusiasts that know the true value.

I’m a watch “watcher”. I see many great watches, sometimes having wonderful conversations with the owners. It comes down to time and place and, mostly, discretion. Never invade another’s personal space but opportunities to strike up a conversation do present themselves. I’ve always had pleasant experiences. If you don't want that, wear a g-shock or long-sleeved shirt.

I've got the same watch and consider it pretty flashy. Even people I know who like watches don't necessarily catch it. I don't believe outside of the monster Invictas that any normal watch will be readily seen by many people.

My wife and I went to a casual restaurant that is popular with the office lunchtime crowd. That day about 80% of the customers were women. Just surrounding our table I counted four Apple watches and two Fit Bits. I have yet to see a Rolex in Canton, OH through many years and I do look.

Yes but only if you know what one looks like. I can spot them easily, and imagine most on this forum can too.

Gen pop, nope.

My 35mm Invicta Mickey Mouse watch gets the most comments. People love it. They smile. Life is good.

Recently I was shopping at my local military exchange when I saw a representative of the Cutco Knife company sporting a watch with a cyclops about 50 feet away.

Asked him about it and it turns it out it was a 2020 Submariner that he got as a prize for sales from Cutco. Great conversation and one of about half a dozen I’ve had over the last five years with other watch collectors/enthusiasts.

Agreed. The explorer totally flies under the radar. Probably more than any other rolex.

I will notice every Rolex in my vicinity, they seem to leap out at me. I think it’s the same phenomenon as when you buy a car that you consider unique, but once you drive away from the lot you suddenly start taking account of all the others on the same roads with you.

this. every so often when i come across someone else wearing a Rolex, the very first thing that jumps out to me is the unmistakable oyster bracelet. then it's just a matter of getting a semi-decent look at the dial and figuring out exactly what the person is wearing.

About a month after I had orthopedic surgery, I had a follow up visit with the surgeon that did a skin graph on my leg. I had never met him before. He had a reputation as being a bit grouchy. He had some interns with him, (teaching Hospital). I noticed he was wearing a Sea-Dweller. Dr. Grouch didn't have much to say to me until I said "nice watch" and pulled up my sleeve to show him my Sub 18600. He lit up with a huge smile and we talked watches for a few minutes with the Interns paying close attention. When he was ready to leave he shook my hand and gave me a big hug and said if I ever needed anything call him. What a difference a watch can make.

My personal experience echoes this.

Rolex is the worst choice for someone who seeks attention from the non-watch crowd, and I think that has a lot to do with Rolex's conservative design.

It does a much better job attracting attention from the criminals.

Yeah, I had a friend over recently, and he was talking about maybe buying a Rolex. He was shocked when I showed him I was actually wearing one (a 36mm Explorer.)

On the contrary to most posting, I often have people come up and comment on my Rolex. My wife owns a hair salon and she has people comment on her BLNR/Jubilee almost daily.

She had a long time client ask to see it just last night, she put it on her wrist then took a picture of it for her instagram page... ((cringe))
