I have dozens of watches and avoid one with dates for this very reason. My choice would be the Sub, as it retains more of the original design that the new fangled Subdate. The non COSC would be my choice as the less verbiage on a dial the better for me! Regards tim |

I don't care whether it has the date or not - it MUST have the CYCLOPS!!!
Show me a Daytona with a CYCLOPS and I'd buy it in a heartbeat!!

Look, My SDDS has now more wrist time then my SS Daytona because of the date . I would go for the sub with date . You can always remove the cyclops if that is what bothers you the most.

I also had an Explorer first, then went with the date Sub. I like the cyclops look and thought the date function would be helpful (though I usually don't need it).
My suggestion-- if it's a watch you're going to wear a lot, go for the date. If it's a watch you're only going to wear once in a while, consider the no-date. Setting the date is a bit of a hassle, IMO.

I have recently purchased a 14060M, and I love it, but part of me wishes I had gone for the date model.

I am use to a watch with no cyclops. I like and use the date all the time. I also like the simplicity of a no date but I think its because the dial is not distorted in any way. So for me, I will stick with only models with a date and no cyclops.

My first Rolex was a 14060 and I ended up buying a 16610 a few years later. I 'need' the date function.

I'd by both, use the 14060 to wear while on vacation (no date needed) and the 16610 for your daily grind back on the mainland

I just could not live with a no date watch, but surprisingly my brain is getting used to the idea and it's now working on it . Bottom line : I'm not looking at the date on my date equipped watches lately because I'm waiting for a brand new 14060 M this weekend.
Go for the ND if you like to keep it simple and intimate. Personally I hate to have people noticing I'm wearing a Rolex, that's why I've sold all my 16610 and LV's. Anonimity...I'm in love with that. |

Exactly, why couldn't they just leave off all evidence of the Rolex name except on the case back.
