It's just the diver's extention that's deleted, which shouldn't worry some as a number of people are removing the diver's extention for a better fit on their wrist anyway. I imagine and recall hearing a rumour that it may still be possible to purchase it separately and have it fitted by RSC if one still wants/needs it on their 136660.
I think from memory there is only one person on the forum who has actually used their diver's extention in the course of their work. For the rest of us it's virtually relegated to being a redundant novelty.

It seems as though Rolex is going for optimised wearability with the 136660 by deleting the diver's extention and making the Caseback with a larger diameter of the flat area

Take it, the updated version is not a better version. As others have said, the old clasp is awesome!

The whole watch is a novelty to me. I barely dive to 8 feet … LOL

Keep in mind, we're still seeing posts on here about taking delivery (brand new, from AD) of OP41s in red, yellow, and turquoise. Just because Rolex stopped making it (supposedly) at the end of March doesn't mean all were delivered. It's not like this is one that's been collecting dust, fingerprints, and scratches in a display case. It's also not as though there's a massive generational difference, such as a new movement, size, bracelet, etc. I wouldn't hesitate if you still like the watch.

136660 feels like a downgrade IMO.

Rolex will still deliver older models until they are all finished. This happens. You should be grateful that you received a retired model. I would be so happy.

For all we know, Rolex still produces retired models past the supposed discontinuation. The 115200 stuck around a year or so past when it let the Rolex site. In fact, my belief is that production never stopped because I have a 2021 OP user guide that says it's for the OP/OPD (which had supposedly died in 2020).

Remember: There is no retirement announcement, we just assume such because they are off of the website.

I vote 126660, but I’m biased…..it’s on my wrist 24/7.

This. I thought the new one comprised features (from what others posters have said)

Shipstar is saying the 126660 has a better package with the Diver's extention included as that's what is on offer

And to echo everyone else, you asked for 126660, and they've supplied a 126660. I also agree that the 12 is a slightly better package than the 13 anyway. We shouldn't chase "new" just for the sake of it.

Thanks for all the comments
There was no doubt in my mind when I received the call that I was going to take it. Just wanted the considered opinion from the forum. AD has it safely put back for me until I can get there. Busy time here at the moment so a bit tricky to drop tools and rush to the AD. Will need to be a wet day before I can finally collect it.

Agreed with the majority here in taking it. If you loved the watch, you're still going to love it for years to come.

My first Rolex purchase was a 116660 (the black dial.) This purchase was my introduction to watches and has a story I tell everyone. lol. You're story with this watch is already two years old. All the drop-ins you've made to your AD, all the anticipation, etc. Make the time and go get it!

Well the two year wait has finally ended and I collected the watch this afternoon.
It is simply incredible, such a presence. This watch will get serious wrist time.

Rolex James Cameron DSSD …. what to do

Lol take it…. I picked one up a few months ago and it was the first version. No hesitation at all.

Congratulations! You made the right choice!

The Glidelock clasp is unchanged.

They removed the Fliplock foldout extension link in the bracelet.
