This was back in the summer of 2021 a few months before everything went 'exhibition only'. At the time I had passed up on a chocolate dial Datejust 126331 on an oyster hoping for the GMT MASTER II.

I of course did not get in time for our wedding but about 8 months later one of our AD's came through and I was happy as I can be to have it before our first anniversary. I have since added a stainless submariner and a stainless yacht master for my wife as well to our collection but our wedding pieces will forever be our grails. They literally look like Ying and Yang with the white and black dials

Q: Do you already own your Grail Rolex?

This is my grail. I’ve been waiting for a few years now. =\

There are no Rolex models that fit into my definition of a grail. I have what I think is the perfect Rolex for me - the 124060.

My real grail watch is a Lange Datograph. It’s a double hurdle for me - first I have to be able to afford to buy one, and then I need to be able to afford to have it serviced occasionally. I don’t know if I’ll ever get there, but that’s the dedinition of a grail, for me.

I don't have a grail Rolex but I have 2 non-Rolex grails that I may never get.

First time doing that but oh well. Its incredible!!!

I am very grateful for what I have. I never imagined the collection I have.

There is nothing I covet or desire more than what I have.

Got my grail in August 2022. I Was about to give in and go grey when my SA texted me to say that it had finally come in.

Reading stories about forum members who waited years for “the call” made me realise how fortunate I was to receive my sky-dweller in just under 9 months.

Every time the fleeting thought of getting another watch crosses my mind (Tudor BB GMT, Pelagos 39, Rolex GMT master 2 CHNR, air-king.. etc), I’d look down at my wrist and see this beauty staring back at me.

Then I put those thoughts out of my head. It’d be nice to have those other watches, but I’d also be perfectly content and happy with just this sky-dweller.

Interestingly, I practice alongside my dad, who bought his dream watch, a 36mm YG Day-Date pyramid dial in his early 40’s and he wore it consistently throughout his career. He let me borrow the watch for my last months in residency. It felt special, until a sales rep approached me in the clinic to ask about my new “time-piece”. I was embarrassed. It’s why I wear a 1680, hoping to fly a bit under the radar.
Interesting post.

I am a doctor, too.

However when I am working in my practice I wear a Casio G-Shock.

Since there is quite a bit of manual work involved I don't want a Rolex or other high-end watch getting scratched or spilt with body fluids etc.

Also the society in my country is rather jealous in general, so I don't want patients or employees to get any ideas.

So I get to wear my precious stuff mostly on the weekend.

I dont think I've ever had a grail. I lust after all sorts. Once I get what I was lusting after, I probably find something else.

The only Rolex watch I want but dont own is the 6263 black dial Daytona. That will happen when the right one comes along.

Q: Do you already own your Grail Rolex?

A few years back I'd collected quite a few watches. I decided that I wasn't wearing many enough and that I wanted to simplify my watch life. I had 20 watches I wanted to part with so I was deciding how to do it. Insurance alone in shipping watches can be expensive. Am AD near me sent out an email asking to buy watches owners no longer wanted so I packed up everything and went to visit them. The result was walking away with four watches. Two Rolex I'd meant to sell but their offer was too low, an DJ for my wife, and a 50th Anniversary Daytona, my grail. I've had it for over three years now and its grailness has faded a bit but ultimately there's no other grail in sight.

I have my Submariner which I love and I think is my grail watch, only a VC Overseas would supplant it however unless a lottery win happens I am not spending £20k on a watch no matter now much I like it.

For me there is no such thing. But I have owned them all from a Platinum Diamond Daytona to most of the SS models. I have gotten to a point that I still enjoy different watches but a grail piece does not exist.

Yes, my 116710LN.

There are others I would like (114300 white dial, 126600) but are unavailable to try on, let alone buy, so I choose to be content.

There are those I admire, but are not my style, like a white gold DD olive dial, or the RG GMTIIc.

Edit: Now that i think of it, I wish I'd grabbed that white dial Turn-O-Graph when i saw it in Schipol Airport all those years ago. Not a grail, but such an interesting, understated and under appreciated piece. I would enjoy that one.

Yes. In December 2021, I began to think about upgrading my Rolex. I went in January & tried on a TT Datejust. There was a Day Date & I also tried it. I knew if I got the DJ, I would stilll want the DD. I pulled the trigger & bought a new, YG DD 36 with white dial & gold Roman Numerals & am quite happy...my true Grail!

Realistically, yes, I have my grail watch and it's my 16710 GMT II. It checks all the boxes. Would I love to have a white gold 126719BLRO with meteorite dial? Yes, but I won't pay more than MSRP for it, so it's out of reach for the foreseeable future.

Got into watches during the Daytona steel bezel era. Always loved the platinum DD ice blue dial but didn’t actually want to wear a 36mm DD. (41mm was not out yet then). I thought if they eventually made a platinum DD would be great!

Of course then released in 2013 (?) but couldn’t afford it then. Saved, saved, worked to build life, then finally acquired as the crazy was building. TRF was very helpful in deciding to finally make the leap, back when the contraversy of bezel color was still a thing instead of just being the hot piece it is now.

Nothing in todays Rolex line up really excites me so my 6263 means the most to me as it was my Fathers watch.Plus my 1930s Rolex Prince with the doctor style dial watch with Gruen made Cal 877 movement, at the time a quite unique oblong movement both grail watches for me..

Fun thread. I don’t think I have a true grail watch. I would say the watch I currently lust for is the platona with diamond markers.

All the watches I have were my grail at one time, usually doesn’t take long after purchasing before the next itch.
For the moment I am satisfied

I did. A brand new BLRO GMT 12XXXX reference. My uncle had a 1675, which was a staple of my childhood. He would let me wear it around the house, in the yard, playing outside, etc. Way before these were seen as 'investments.'

Purchased my own BLRO in 2018. It was my 'grail.' Initially loved it, wore it daily until C19 ramped up in the States. Today, I've grown distant from it. Too flashy and don't buy into the 'hype' culture. Feel like the entire experience has been tarnished. Now, OP and Explorer for me; new 'grails' I suppose.
