Congrats! The TT 116503 is often overlooked. It has the exact same movement as all the other Daytonas and it is a beautiful watch.

Congrats!

I would have like to see your reaction had he brought out three watches, a 116503, 116500-0001 (white) and 116500-0002 (black). Are you certain you would have chosen the two-tone?

Congrats to you on getting the 116503 - terrific watch!

I have seen both the two SS models in person and the TT with different dial colors. The TT with black dial is by far my favorite. Almost a 3 tone watch between black gold and steel.

I don’t really care about resell cause that’s not what a watch is for IMO, and the price of a Daytona is a lot of money for me :) especially given I am a younger professional. No point buying a watch that I am not 100% happy with. Also I have couple other all steel watches non Rolex, I wanted this one to be special!

Agree, though unfortunately my favorite TT Daytona has been out of production for some time - the blue "racing" dial version.

Personal preference is personal preference. OP's profile also lists location as Hong Kong, and I've been under the impression that black dial, TT watches are far more popular in Asia than in the U.S. or Europe. In fact, my hypothesis was always that the TT Explorer 124273 was designed with the Asian market in mind.

A huge congrats! Great story and thank you for sharing. Sounds like you really hit it off with the AD, and were in the right place at the right time. Nice score on your Daytona. That's a beautiful piece! Also, welcome to TRF.

Eventually, you won't have to tell a story to buy a Rolex.
