Love this piece. I got one in October after a similar wait time, and it has taken up basically all my wrist time since then. That lume is beautiful and the matte black, with the white just pops like nothing else. Congratulations!

Not major visual diffs. But The key ones are:

the transition from the lugs, which are a tad narrower, to the bracelet, which is a tad wider, and this make the transition super nice, smooth.

Small Rolex crown between the words “Swiss” and “made” at the bottom of the dial

Bracelet it’s self, including class, is a couple millimeters wider, feels somehow better, better fit, more substantial.

this lume is brighter, and lasts longer

They nailed it with these modest improvements (together with some of the improvements to the movement).

Cousin says hi! ;-)

Thank you so much. I had so many amazing adventures with my 216570. That is a phenomenal loom shot.

Thanks for the feedback.
I have 2 questions if I may:
- felt thickness/wearing comfort: any improvement or differences between the 2?
- shiny/glossy black outlines versus mat - any difference in legibility or esthetics for you?

Would you mind elaborating? I am genuinely interested in your comment.

Congratulations! I’ve never been an Explorer guy. But the new reference looks great on your wrist — and the pic is excellent!

I have been on the wait list for a Polar Explorer 2 for five years as my AD doesn’t get any. Was offered the black dial twice and would have bought one, but had purchased more sought after watches instead of the black dial Explorer 2 both times.

Wear that beauty in good health.

You need to get a new AD. Seriously before Covid, even when the hype was on, most ADs were struggling to get rid of their Polar EX2s.

Congrats! I am so smitten with these, absolutely the next one on my list even though I probably don't have a big enough wrist to pull it off.

Sure.

Like I mentioned mine was the black dial, so some of it is definitely different from the polar variant as the biggest item that bugged me was the matte dial with the high gloss floating hands. It just didn’t look right and stuck out every time I looked at it. Not that I dislike the floating hands, I think they are cool in concept, but with the gloss paint on the hands and the matte dial almost having a brownish hue underneath in certain lighting it just didn’t look right. They fixed that of course on the 22 series.

The smaller lugs as well were a visual improvement and I feel that distributes the flattish case and heft and all a more evenly onto the wrist and bracelet.

Love the aesthetic, but that dial always stood out like a sore thumb on the 216570 to me. I think I could potentially get back into them with the 226570 one day as they fixed my exact gripes.

Was thinking same thing when I saw that post. Would also consider just going grey at that point, considering they don't seem to trading much above MSRP+Tax now.

I am not a big wrist guy, and I like a little bit bigger, feeling to watch, this thing is perfect

1. Yes, this watch wears more comfortably than the 21. I think it’s something about the transition from lug to bracelet and width of the bracelet as it tapers down. It just feels more comfortable. The 21 is phenomenal and I love that watching a big way. And I didn’t know what I didn’t know. In retrospect, the bracelet was too narrow to accommodate that watch. Now it seems to work and flow beautifully.

2. Same deal with the matte finish on the hands. They definitely pop more against the white dial. Again, I didn’t know what I didn’t know, but now I feel like the black hands and surround are more starkly contrasted to the white dial and the glossy hands were. This is a marked improvement in my mind.

Well congrats - it looks like an awesome win in your book!
Thanks for responding in details, much appreciated. I’ll try to find a 22 EXII to compare with my 216570. I see a bunch of pictures but the differences seem so subtle that they are hardly noticeable in pictures (for the polar at least - other than Matt versus shinny).

I think that’s right on the aesthetics front. But the big differences for me are: the proportions and transition from watch to band is amazing; the clasp is better; and I believe the anti-shock mechanism is superior. My 21 once got hit super hard, and the hour hand dislodged from the minute hand, requiring a complete overhaul RSC.
