Years ago I bought a U-Boat from deBoulle in Highland Park. At that time they were also a Rolex dealer but lost it for some alleged hanky panky. Weirdly they are now again a Rolex AD in Houston as well as Patek.
This post in general just reminds me how things have changed. I never bought any Rolex in Dallas but visited watch stores there all the time over the years. Like many others I believe it was around 2017 when things starting changing, when you needed to “earn” buying a Rolex. Who knows if and when you will ever be able to just walk in and buy one with no strings attached.

I have visited multiple AD’s in Dallas hoping to purchase a sub at a later date but have not had any luck. On some occasions I have spent up to an hour talking with salespersons and recording my interest. I understand that demand is higher than supply and that is unlikely to change but I am becoming frustrated with not getting anywhere. I guess I could go ahead and play the game by buying a Tudor or Cartier to “build a relationship” but I’m worried I’ll still be left hanging. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

If anyone recommends an AD that they trust and believe a relationship could be built with in Dallas, please comment or dm me.

Thank you!

No disrespect but building a 5 year relationship in different states with different ADs to get a sub seems extreme.
To clarify, I don't have a 5 year relationship. When I lived in NYC I spent a couple years visiting AD's, expressing interest, etc. then Covid hit. I moved to Dallas and have not been able to keep in touch with the NYC AD's (Emails went unanswered). I started the process over in Dallas. Maybe I'm alone in this but 2018-present, has been one of the toughest times to acquire any Rolex, AP, PP, VC. Count myself very lucky to get a AP RO.

If I just wanted a sub, yes I would go grey and not look back. I'm seeking a relationship because I would like to one day also purchase GMT's, Daytona's, DD's, etc. Yes, those are all highly desirable pieces and maybe its impossible in today's current market but I can dream can't I?

The Rolex Boutique at Highland Park Village is located in and surrounded by 2 of the wealthiest zip codes in Texas. Jerry Jones (owner of Dallas Cowboys for non-USA folks) lives in Highland Park. So, there is a lot of money floating around Dallas and DFW in general. More people are relocating to DFW daily.

My friend's sister 3 months ago was looking to buy a sub for her husband's birthday the following week. She had no idea about the whole Rolex supply and demand issue. She went to 2 Dallas ADs thinking she could just buy one on the spot. Much to her surprise, she was told 1 year wait. So, she went to trusted seller here after my friend asked me to help her out given the deadline.

On my last visit at the Rolex Boutique, they had several women's DJ all iced up and ready to sell on the spot. When I inquired about subs and GMTs, I was told 2-3 years for GMT. So in other words, he was telling me to get lost bc there are richer VIPs around here. BUT, I could acquire a woman's DJ or 2 to start my relationship. LOL That was over a year ago, and I stopped visiting any ADs in Dallas after that.

I have a funny personal story about this particular boutique.

In late 2021 (prior to gaining any knowledge about Rolex supply & demand besides knowing I wanted one), I visited the HP Village boutique with a friend who is a HP local and grossly over exaggerated his relationship with the particular SA I met. I was also wearing athleisure and felt like I was both underdressed and left a bad first impression by not looking a certain way. Needless to say I left feeling like I would never be able to obtain a watch with the "multi year waitlists" and given that I am not from the DFW area. Fast forward to early 2022 I walked in (dressed much nicer), reintroduced myself, and they just so happened to have the DJ41 I wanted in stock and I walked out with my first Rolex.

OP feel your pain. I’m about 45 mins north of Dallas and have had no luck. I went to bachendorfs at the galleria and did the typical “meet and greet put me on the list”. I followed up with an email and text 3-4 months later and no response. I was wanting to start some type of relationship with an AD but to no avail. Would love to find a decent AD that at least says “still waiting” and at least responds but none the less. If anyone knows a good AD let me know. I did end up going gray and bought a 16610 from a shop in frisco called Noah’s fine jewelry. Super professional and had a great interaction. I would def purchase from him again.

Dallas is a tough market, I have lived here for over ten years now, yet all of my 12 Rolex watches were purchased at different AD's around the globe. There are some good (and mostly honest) SA's at Bachendorf's at the Galleria. Ask for Collette or Stephen there. And at all costs, avoid the snooty boutique at Highland Village, unless you would merely like to look at a pretty piece of commercial real estate.

ADs typically say they have currently two years of future supply of Subs sold already, and their lists just grow longer with existing customers who spend a lot at their stores. These watches now sell used, unworn, for a just little over MSRP. I would go that route and forget the ADs on a Sub purchase.

lol the HP store is owned by Bachendorf's just so you are aware. Lots of nice people at both locations. I think the SAs at the HP store deal with a lot of attitude not an excuse just a lot of reality

Believe me, I am aware. Yet the vibe and SA's are way different at both locations. However, the Galleria locations is being renovated at the moment. So the vibe may change for the worse here too haha.

Rep said they are prioritizing clients who will buy jewelry, engagement rings, then gave me an example of a guy who spent $20,000 on a ring and then they gave him a black sub. "He was happy to get both."

I asked for an OP instead. Rep says it's hard but they sold one last year 36mm OP colored dial after the lady opted to buy some jewelry. I asked them if the OP36 was just sitting out so client could see it. They said... "oh well you know, we didn't have it out but we just so happened to have one when she asked. She bought jewelry so we had one for her."

I told them I am already married and like to keep it low key. But I was told by Rolex that I should not need to buy jewelry. Rep immediately says "oh we are not requiring that anymore." LOL

Also told me the interest list isn't real for the stainless hot watches, owner sells it to his own clients. Tells me to come back to talk to manager. She might can do something about it. Owner walks around to listen in on our conversation. Pretends to hold up a phone. I straight up say hi to him. He waves to me and then walks off a little. As I leave i hear him ask the rep "who was he?"

Sad but that's the state of things.

Yes, totally different attitudes towards customers. I get it, it's Highland Park...one of the wealthiest cities in the U.S., but still...you are a watch salesman, and these aren't Lambo's, lose the uppity attitude. At least the Galleria has multiple brands, and they don't act put out when you walk in the door.

FWIW, I've had the best interactions at the Haltom's locations.

Likely never will. Rolex is rapidly reducing the AD pool.

It’s coming. WoS plans to open a standalone Rolex boutique in Legacy West late 2024 or 2025. Waiting for the current tenant to vacate, permits, and construction to begin.

They receive significantly less allocations compared to the other ADs in the area.

Wasn’t there an AD in the Richardson/Plano area? Just noticed it’s not on the dealer map anymore.
I also noticed Susan Robinson in Tyler is gone now. I was on their email list and got a few “Owner retiring, store closing, everything must go” messages for the last month.

Don’t fall into the trap. Most dallas ADs are not cool. I have been to all in Dfw and done some business with them but at the end of day it was better to go gray for me. I learned after spending 76k at one Ad and I never truly got the watch I wanted. I had to sale some of the watches I bought just stupid. Time wasted did not help equal money spent. You can get any watch you want tomorrow with a premium which Is way to go in my opinion. Some people say it’s against their morals to pay over retail. I say forget that it’s against my morals to have to kiss someone’s butt and be forced to buy stuff I don’t want to be deemed worthy for a watch not cool

I'm in the hunt as of February of 2023 and speaking to my AD who I bought my Wife's engagement ring from said the following:

" this year we're seeing a good amount of SS pieces coming our way. I should be able to get you a sub before your Birthday in October."

Yes, Govinjis in Richardson but they had their license pulled about two years ago for funny business.

Bacendorf’s is hit or miss but ultimately depends on who you’re dealing with. I have a hunch you dealt with their Preston Center location which wasn’t all that great to begin with. It’s no longer an AD at that location since HP-Village opened. It’s best to cast your net wide outside of the metroplex.

Interesting, was always curious what happened to their AD status. I remember going there in 2020 to try and get my first Rolex (inquired about any SS Sub or GMT) and they told me to start with a Cartier Santos for their consideration. I promptly said thanks for your time and walked out lol.

Jokes on them I guess...

After spending 40k within a year on women's jewelry, Dallas AD lied to my face that I am #1 on the list for a 116505 and should arrive within a month. This was when PM pieces were still trading at or below MSRP. It has been 3 years.. Glad I went to trusted dealers and moved on.

@Auric Goldfinger. I was last in there a year or so ago and they mentioned they were working on becoming an AD for Rolex, so not surprised that it’s coming. One of the SA tried to get me to buy an Omega, knowing that I wanted a Rolex and he used the line of “well once we become an Rolex AD, you can use this purchase to get that rolex you have been wanting”. Walked out shortly thereafter.
I tried at bachendorf’s at the galleria but the SA never emailed or text me back so I went grey at Noah’s. Dallas seems to be a tough market. Either way good luck for those on the hunt

I think buying another watch you don't want in hopes of getting one you do want is just plain dumb. You are better off going gray dealer and getting the watch you want today. There is a good chance you are spending the same money in both cases, possibly more at the AD if you have to buy more than 1 watch you don't want!

Sad but that's the state of things.
Now you know why Rolex is forcing the Boutique model.

If I wanted to just go somewhere to try on a Daytona, which AD would be best positioned to have that? Any idea??

Interested but recognize highly unlikely to get one the AD route… at least, the Dallas AD route.

Both the HP boutique and Esimans had two tone Daytonas last time I was in 2-3 weeks ago
