Platinum fluted bezel … why only recently available?

Or they had a bunch of smooth ones already made and worked through them finally.

Platinum fluted bezel … why only recently available?
Am with Lee, but the distinction is now gone (just like the distinction used to be in WG only Skydweller and GMT ceramic models, abandoned with the launch of the SS models). Some people prefer the smooth bezel on the DD PT, in my case like more the fluted design. Would be nice they offer it on both versions as they do with the Datejust line, just call them by different reference numbers as used to be on the gold DD models (118239 / 118209 on WG and 118238/118208 on YG) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Yup ! My AD has a watchmaker and they showed me. They told me they can’t order them as a part from Rolex but if I send in the watch without a strap they’ll give me new ones at around 90 dollars a springbar 😬

I too much prefer the smooth bezel DD platinum.
As for Rolex not being technically adept to fabricate a fluted bezel in platinum until 2022, I think we can safety call horse**** to that notion.

They've been making platinum bezels with a knurled edge for the Yacht-Master "Rolesium" since 1999 (ref 16622, 116622 and 126622).
My guess is they've decided to make a fluted bezel in platinum to hide the scratches better on their flagship DD. Polished smooth bezels are scratch magnets. |

Don’t think so. The YM has a SS bezel (the knurled bit) with a platinum insert. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You're right. Just let it go. The whole thing is solid platinum. I once said my Tudor machining and polish was the same quality as Rolex and he got mad at me

Again platinum is worth less than gold and softer than steel.
You're acting like it is a diamond bezel.

I would say it's hard to make than the smooth bezel and they Wants the public think they are buying something unique too.
