Just comes with being the most recognized brand in the world. There's a target drawn on Rolex's back, but it's nothing they can't handle. Man, this guy is so ignorant.

Well he's not against having a good watch. At least he gives Omega the thumbs ups. He's right that Rolex are too expensive, but thats the power of branding, baby.

Deep down he want's one but doesnt have the personality to wear it knowing that the people he described wear it also. I for one dont care who wears it, and what kind of people do, I love my watches for what they are, not for what they stand for. Now i understand when Jeremy Clarkson stated that the only worst thing that a fake rolex is a real one.

It's just a badly researched and one sided article on a mens website, aimed at being controversial in order to get people onto the website (and succeeding in our cases!).

I wouldn't take it too seriously - they even say that there will be an article on the site with the opposite argument at a later date (which will probably be just as badly researched and one sided!).

Rolex will always divide opinion amongst both WIS and Non WIS, end of.

I get a guilty pleasure reading these laddish things, but anything designed to appeal to the masses like this is going to be plain wrong. Rolex to me has always stood for quality and exclusivity. Personally, I feel that they are fairly priced for their craftsmanship, history, durability, and their image. Nothing is quite like a Rolex...negative statements to the contrary represents jealousy and nothing more.
SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT

Yeah, aren't they basically the "replica" of men's magazines? Sorry, I know we aren't supposed to talk about that subject!

I thought the article was HILARIOUS and VERY WITTY! I thought some of the comments about Rolex were very broad and could apply to many luxury watches but it was still funny!

Yeah made me laugh too...like you say, you could apply it to any brand. You only have to put on a Rolex and you know it's quality.

I have never found the opinions of the spotty faced pre-pubescent boy's that seem to write for that site worth anything and you only have to read the article (a painful proccess!) to see that they did their research by looking on the backs of cornflake packets!

The internet is wonderful but unfortunately amongst all the really great information there is a huge amount of uneducated drivel and this site along with a lot of the mens magazines on the news shelves (maxim et all) is at the forefront of a lot of ego driven opinion. They probably think Nixon is a premium watch brand!

That's why I don't "ask men".....

I make my own decisions on my watches. And my decision is Rolex!!

I think he's the douche.

Funny but the article could be 99% similar and be an argument against buying a Porsche 911.... lazy design engineers, etc.

Now we all wouldn't want one of those, now would we?

2p.m. nap? or golf? /sigh

I'd rather buy rolex and enjoy its faultless timekeeping...

...than buy "top-3" and or even proposed "top-6" watch company that failed and failed again in service satisfaction. Then again my dream watch is in the so-called top tier watch co. as well as a Rolex and/or Tudor. I will never learn.

You took the words out of my mouth Justin!

IMHO - I believe most watch aficionados purchase their beloved watches for their own enjoyment & satisfaction, oblivious to what anyone else thinks of them.

I expect the whole point of such an article is to generate comment and get a number of responses... Even his last paragraph is false..... Sir Hillary took off his Explorer and put on the Smith when he got there to be able to proclaim the British Smith Company was there, a completely different twist than his statement seems to be saying......... and Rolex has never submitted any watch of any type to NASA for testing..

It's pretty apparent that absolutely zero research was done for this hatchet job.....
Exactly! They are posting an article next week on arguments FOR buying a Rolex. - Maybe they should let TRF write that one.
