Since I was a kid, I was pretty much obsessed with cars. As a reward for paying off our mortgage I decided to finally buy my dream Porsche 911. It was an experience I’ll never forget. However, now with a newborn and kindergartener, my time alone to enjoy the car is pretty much nonexistent. Therefore, my love of watches has sort of scratched that itch. So my answer is both but depends on where you’re at in life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I suppose you’re right, although I do like my dog and he doesn’t complain if I buy another watch.

I used to obsess about both. my priorities have changed though. I still like them but no longer look at my watch without wanting to know the time and never look back as I walk away from my parked car.

Cars....over the years I have realized when a car fanatic at a tender young age, it carries on into you elder years if you are a true fanatic. You cannot lose that, its in your blood. I remember years ago at a gold tournament, I was in my twenties and I heard two glorious engines just ripping through the private drive with tires screeching. I happened to be at my car putting away the golf clubs. I looked up to see a Lamborghini Diablo and a Ferrari Testarossa coming in. They parked, and each driver got out of the car.....slowly. Both drivers were in their late 70's early 80's. Both laughing and high fiving. These guys at that age are still acting like the little kids who oooh and aaahh over cars. You can't lose that feeling.

What a cool story. And yeah, even late in age you can still operate a car as if you are in the prime of your life. Hard to beat.

Watches hands down for me. I also like cars but not to the extent I like watches.

Interesting question. I will go with cars though. My love for watches came later in life. There certainly are some similarities in recent markets for high end cars and watches.

Cars and vehicles in general can appeal to a man’s inner beast in ways watch simply can’t. Whether it is raw speed, scaring the living hell out of you, or cold start sounds of a big naturally aspirated engine, you can feel the power, the potential of the machine. You ever see somebody rev a mean sounding car and all the guys react “f yeah”. You don’t really get that with watches. In comparison, watches are a lot slower of a burn and easier to live to live with. No worries about carbon ceramic brakes, faded alcantara, parking spots, jealous people hitting, keying, stealing or harming your car.
One memorable ride in the right car will have you forgetting about watches. |

I've gone back and forth. For me, they use the same portion of my finances so I feel like I can never have both. Right now, 100% watches. I drive a really clean, reliable, cheap car and I have my motorcycle for a toy. I like my current ratio of watch/car/bike.

Yeah but since I wrote that I've been getting a lot of stink eye from my dog.
She's not mad, just really really disappointed.

I have a few nice watches that I rotate regularly and it's something I can enjoy everyday as part of my daily routine. In a few years, I hope to get a fun analog car again when I don't have to worry about kids car seats... |

Always been a car nut first myself. BTW - traded my Mark VI Tenor for a Miles Davis trumpet about 12-13 years ago. Never was much of a sax player - but played trumpet professionally for 40+ years. PDG |

These days I live in the city, so my car was only ever a weekend driver. I sat in a heck of a lot of traffic though, so the manual was a headache. I wear a watch every day, so for now it's watches. When we buy a house, I'll 1000% want a fun car.

My daily driver is more important than any watch. It’s a safety issue.
I was also contemplating buying my absolute grail PM Rolex, but decided to get the classic car of my dreams instead. They cost about the same. My watches are for me. My classic car is for everyone. I got a huge thrill at a recent car show when kids asked their parents to take their photo standing in front of my car. When my kids were younger, we’d take them to car shows, and we’d take photos of them in front of their favorite cars. On the flip side, it takes up far less room to have a watch collection than a car collection! |

Doubt my answer will surprise anyone here but without rocking the boat too much, if you pick watches over cars, you haven't driven the right car. There is no watch or tangible item that can put as big of a smile on my face ripping through my italian manual gated car with a screaming catless V12 behind me. Nothing. It gives me the chills just thinking about it.

I think I’d have to agree with this. Also, guessing from your description it’s a Diablo or Murcielago? I can’t think of any watch that’d give me the same feeling of ripping through gears in a NA V12! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Probably Cars for me
There are so many different experiences a car can provide Driving a Italian sportscar is different to a Germany sports car Those are different than driving a big motor hot rod That is different to a low and slow cruiser Lets not even start talking about convertibles or motorbikes... At the end of the day, even the most expensive and complicated watch still only tells the time, sure it could tell the time for 300 years but does a Grand Comp really feel that much different on the wrist to a Swiss chronograph, when you're not looking directly at it? That having been said, its much easier to store a watch collection than it is a car collection, so maybe watches?

6. That photo is from an office building, moving to a house with proper garage in Sept.
That is very kind, thank you. Outwork, outread and outsmart your peers, anything is achievable.
