If i'll pay premium, i'd go with Daytona. If Daytona doesn't worth ~ 2x retail to some of you, so does BLRO
One big daddy instead of two similar watches

At this stage of the game I would rather have one $30k, assuming it's PM, rather than two SS.
Personally my collection is 5 PM, one TT, and two SS....all Rolex. There are 2-3 PM left I would like to have and one more SS. |

I just went through this scenario a few times this year and downsized each time drastically to one. Here’s where I started and where I am now:
1.) 126710BLRO Pepsi, 124270 Exp 1, 126610LV Starbucks, 5115 Cellini. Several small brands to compliment. Awesome and versatile rotation. Also had a Tudor Mini-Sub. 2.) Traded Pepsi and Starbucks for 116500LN white dial Daytona. 3.) 124270 was too vanilla to have with the Daytona. Traded it for an 116622 platinum dial Yachtmaster. This was a fun pair, but the YM wasn’t scratching the itch like my Pepsi did. 4.) Was so homesick about my Pepsi. Traded the YM, Cellini, and a Tudor Mini-Sub I hardly wore + I think $3k and got back my Pepsi. 5.) Now I just had the Pepsi and Daytona. It was a perfect rotation, but I had precious metal in the back of my mind for a while. I knew I wouldn’t wear my stainless pieces much once I got it, and with the watch market seeming so slippery, I had FOMO that if I didn’t do it that next year prices would be down so much I couldn’t trade into a PM piece I’d like. So, I traded my two plus sold my two extra bracelets for the Pepsi, added $400 on top, and I got a 116508 yellow gold Daytona with Paul Newman dial. I miss the duo I had, but it’s quickly numbers when I look down at what I have now. So that’s my story how in 8 months I went from 5 total down to 1 and now am on my 7th Rolex. I’m the sort of person who likes having an abundance of things, so it was so tough for me to come around fully to accepting a more minimal collection. My advice to you is that you will likely enjoy 1 watch you love more than you will 2 watches you really like. However, it may take you having to go through having 2 watches you just like to realize that you’d probably order 1 you love. Plus after you get that 1, it’s not like you can’t eventually add another. So, if between a Pepsi and Sub or just one Daytona stainless—I’d choose the Daytona. You’ll probably enjoy it more than the pair. I know I would’ve at least. If you could stretch a little over $39k and get a precious metal Sub or Pepsi, I would do that instead, though! Blue dial WG Pepsi is getting CHEAP lately. |

Speaking for myself I don't wear the "££$$€€ I wear the watches I want to own and wear irrespective of price or the brands.

If you already have 10 watches, I would go for the one $30k watch rather than two additional watches since I don't need that many number of watches. Heck, if I had ten watches, I'd probably sell a few of them and upgrade the collection.

Perhaps it’s just me, but it seems somewhat vulgar to describe 2 x $15k watches as ‘cheaper’ when many people don’t have a car that cost $15k. Perhaps it would be better phrased as ‘less expensive’.

Thanks everyone. This isn't a situation I am in. I just want to hear everyone's opinion on the matter.

For me I appreciate quality more - but quality is not just measured in $ value (despite what another thread accuses me of!). Quality is ultimately about connection. In order to figure out my best 'connections', I need to experience quantity. So my collection journey has been a constant cycle between accumulation and downsizing. Each downsizing ups the quality of the kept pieces.

I would go for Rolex. I have some Seiko's and other watches, but I would choose Rolex in your scenario.

Buy what you heart loves and what you will wear. If you don't look down at your wrist and smile, it's not worth it. Ignore the hype, get what YOU love!

It's kind of tough to answer without knowing what the other 10 are. For example, if you had let's say a Seamaster 300m, it would pair perfectly with a higher end Rolex. |

A $30k Rolex is not necessarily of a higher quality than a $7500 Rolex.
I have kept my limit to $10k for the last 15 years and besides shifting my focus to used and vintage watches within my limit, I've done pretty good. Now, if PM equates to higher quality than SS, for you, then disregard the foregoing, but I just see that as a preference, not a an increase in quality. This does not include watches that are available only in PM.

It is a bit surprising how many people here associate "quality" with market-inflated price!

I mean...in all reality...the "quality" of a $15K Rolex is the exact same as the quality as a $30K Rolex but just in a different metal. SS vs gold has nothing to do with quality.
That being said I'd take two $15K watches. |

Whatever makes you happy.
For me it would be 2 watches for 30k. (BLRO & Sub) |
