I like the new version. I want one. A white one.

Yeah, but I guess that depends on if you see boxy as an improvement - for example if you prefer the new Daytona to wear bigger than the old one which many do, so in that way it makes sense.

I like a bigger Daytona, but boxy is not a good look.

You do not like the boxy look in general throughout the entire lineup, or just on the Daytona?

Doesn't look good on the Daytona in my opinion. I like it on the Sea Dweller and Sub. Has to do with the overall design of the watch, the same with everything else. For instance a boxy look is beautiful on a G63, but not on most other Mercedes models.

Same for the 116506?

agree, the new panda lugs just drop too steep to the bracelet, which looks odd to me. the old panda lugs are much smoother.

Among Rolex watches, the Daytona is my favorite, but this upgrade seems to bring only minor changes.

Much more refined looking IMHO, I prefer the 12 Daytonas.

Besides, as soon as they start trickling in here on TRF, everyone else will too

Daytona 126500LN Video Review

As the owner and lover of multiple Daytonas, I’d best summarize as follow:

1) Because it’s subjective, everyone is right. Whether you’re pro 11 series or 12 series, you’re advocating for a damn good watch.

2) Admittedly, I have not tried the 12 series in person, but I believe it should wear exactly like 11 series PMs in terms of case dimensions, including the lugs. If that’s true, I assure everybody that the 12 series dimensions will not bother you. I’ve got my deposit down for a 12 series in white, and am patiently waiting for my AD’s call.

3) Damn, the Daytona is an amazing timepiece … in all configurations.

i own the 116515ln in rose gold. i think the boxy look lugs work best on OF, but not so on steel bracelet daytona.

Most importantly (to me), the 12 series in the video does not look good sitting on his wrist. It sits sort of high, looks bulky and clunky.

This 100%

I never trust a grey dealer review as they are always trying to sell you what they can make the most profit on.

Yes, I think in two years time or so, people will have gotten used to that it how a Daytona looks now, so no big fuzz will be made about it.

I have never myself paid any attention to the fact that the case was different on PM compared to steel, but then again I was never in the market for a PM Daytona, and usually when people posts incomings the pictures are of the front of the watch

Where are we on the side profile? Is it more slab sided, or is it still rounded like the 116 case? Couldn’t clearly make it out from the video.

In some of the stills, the case looks closer to what the PM cases look like and a bit more “angular”.

IMHO, the big improvements are to the sub dials and the outer ring. No right or wrong really as some here clearly prefer the 115.

I’d wager though that some of those very people will be buying a 12xx when they can, and raving about how great it is

Both look great but from the pics and videos I've seen. I still prefer the 11 series. Black would be my choice.

Truth.

Love the changes to the 12. White for me! Not that I’ll ever get one! :-)

Yeah I'm just saying -- the way that was quoted made it sound like the review was a negative one. It was majorly positive. I actually hadn't realized the dial is a throwback to the Zenith Daytonas. That is super cool.

His incentive should really be to pump up the 11s, if his goal were to make money with the review. He's not going to get a ton of 12s and the 11s are in a decline right now on the second hand market. Instead, I think he's trying to make Youtube money, which may be more than selling a watch.

Watch Eric is always an enjoyable vid. Amongst the YouTubers I think he's the best. As far as 11 or 12 I'd take either in black or white.

Fair. I was referring to YouTube review videos, but thanks for linking this. I enjoyed the read.

It makes no sense since they are both profitable. He doesn’t even have the new Daytona in stock to sell. Actually, it would make more business sense for Eric to sell you on the 116LN, as he can actually stock it/source it, while flipping the 126LN will be few and far between for at least another 8-12 months.

Never given the Platona a thought. Color is a factor too. The new black is better, something off with the new white in my opinion. Agree with the poster who said the new case is more suitable to an oysterflex.

I agree, the black in the new one looks nicer. I think it is because the subdials and the black outer bezel ring are the same colour (silver).

White in 116500, in my view.

It could be either way, he can make bigger profits on the new one (I think it will have bigger margin).

It is a matter of personal preference but I dont think I will take a delaer (or an AD) on face value.
