I'm not into vintage Rolex no matter how much they are worth or future projected value is. They are small, flimsy, tin like, and mostly tampered with. Only an expert should attempt buying one in my opinion. I buy watches to wear comfortably, and not for investment.

My eight are

1. Green dial 40 Day Date
2. Daytona Le Mans
3. Daytona Panda steel old 116500
4. Pepsi Meteorite
5. Sub Hulk
6. Daytona green dial (only if it is introduced again, not the old one)
7. Platinum Day Date Arabic numerals
8. Yellow gold Paul Newman Daytona

Nothing other than DD, GMT, Sub, Daytona, Sea Dweller from Rolex if I need to get more.

16570 White
16520 White
14060M - 4 line
214270
228236 Black

I don't own or want to own any watches with a date function so that helps narrow it for me. I have #1 & 2, and in the past had #3.

1. 41mm Submariner
2. 39mm Explorer
3. White 40mm Milgauss
4. Black dial SS Daytona (newest version)
5. Yellow dial 41mm OP
6. Steel/black dial white gold Daytona 126509
7. A Cellini of some sort if that's allowed...or a spare 41mm Sub
8. Air King, the previous model "Bloodhound" with white gold 3/6/9 (to smash with a large hammer and throw the pieces in the nearest lake)

Already have:
- GMT CHNR (The 'nice' watch)
- SD43 (The 'daily')
- Exp2 Black (The 'beater')

But since I'm granted 5 more during this life:
- GMT BLNR Oyster
- GMT Pepsi Meteorite
- SS Daytona Black
- Daytona Le Mans
- Sub No Date

Would never, ever wear:
- Datejust
- YM42Ti
- Diamond/Jewel anything
- Full yellow/rose gold
- Green anything
- DD

For my wife I could get dozens. But I'd never want her to get 'celebration' anything, or other look-at-me designs (eg. palm dial.)

16750 GMT Master, Pepsi Bezel, Matte dial with painted markers, oyster bracelet
1655
16550 Black or Cream Dial
16570 Polar
216570 Black Dial
226570 Polar
226627 Yacht-Master 42 Titanium
336935 Sky-Dweller Rose Gold Blue Dial

Two years ago I would have listed mostly PM watches. Moods like tides, constantly changing. #9 would have been the deepsea challange :-(

126519LN (WG Daytona bright black dial with steel subdials, on OF)
126719BLRO (WG Pepsi GMT Meteorite)
118238 (36mm YG DD with champagne dial and romans)
114270 (36mm Explorer, discontinued version)

I can barely juggle 2! 8 is crazy, but would do the following based on my current dream list (Rolex only because of the title, but would love AP/PP)

1) Daytona Platinum
2) Daytona 116505 Rose Gold chocolate
3) Daytona 116500 white
4) Yachtmaster 116655
5) DayDate 40- RG/Olive
6) DayDate 40- WG/Blue
7) GMT Pepsi/Jubilee
8) Oyster Perpetual 41 Tiffany

Lots of discussion threads on TRF. I've personally had bad experiences three new ones and will never buy another 32XX.

Basically I would finish off my collection. I currently have a 124060, 126300-0001, Tudor Black Bay 41. I would most likely go for the 126619LB and 126610LV.

To be totally honest I could never rationalize having 8 Rolex watches. Even if I could afford them I simply don’t like them all enough to just have. I would only buy/own watches I would wear and I’m pretty happy with what I have.
I am sad I missed out on a yellow OP41 at retail and the only current model I want to add right now is a Celebration dial.

I would only pick 3. Rolex Daytona Paul Newman, Rolex Explorer II 216570 (42mm), and a Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi 116719

I’m a vintage guy at heart and also considering cost.
1675 Pepsi with fuchsia bezel
1016 Explorer (a nice tropical dial would be amazing)
6238 Pre Daytona
116500 Daytona (white dial)
6265 Daytona
President (perhaps a newer quickset model with blue or green dial, 36mm)
5512 or 5513 Sub (because with eight choices you need a Sub)
Gold Daytona (hard choice here but perhaps a modern Newman dial)

If you could own 8 Rolex watches.....what would they be?

I only would pick 3:
YG prez DD 40 champagne dial
EXII 42 mm black dial
Milgauss GV black (or 16610LV RRR) still a doubt

Now for the fun
