Quick update:

I tried the old reference 116518 at a local gray dealer and its absolutely lovely. So i changed my mind and decided to go with it. Will collect it soon.

I plan on asking the AD to add me on the list for a new reference steel model 126500 to complement the YG Oysterflex. We will see how that is received.

You chose correctly. The previous model is the one. A black SS would be a great complement.

I think the white dial will pair better with your black PN dial. Similar to what I did.

They both have their appeal for me. I like the 11-series dial better, but the 12-series clasp is a game changer.

EDIT: Just saw you went for the 11-series. Good call, congrats.

And its here. Absolutely stunning. The only issue with it is that the Oysterflex and buckle are a bit loose. Im guessing it was a display model and was tried on quite a few times. So it does not really feel like a new watch, despite the case and buckle being mint due to stickers.

I believe that all OF Daytonas will eventually trade below retail so there wont be much wait for one, hence no reason for me to compromise now.
OF won’t go below retail anymore but is doable to get an AD

I believe the OF band does not stretch, and does come in different sizes. Ask your AD about that They can make it fit you correctly.

Yes OF is metal reinforced so won’t stretch but straps need to be ordered to your size. You ad should have told you that and ordered them for free

I think i did not express this correctly. When you buy a new rolex, usually the pivot of the strap inside the lugs is stiff because its the watch is new. As you keep wearing it gets looser. Its the same with the pivot of the claspt when opening and closing. They are always stiff the first few wears. This one was completely loose, likely because it was worn as clients tried it on.

If you like it, you should get it. If you turn it down, there is no telling if you will ever see another any time soon. Just because something is a new model, does not always make it better.

I doubt there is much if any wear on the watch from being tried on. There is very little play in the OF models, unlike an all-metal bracelet, and dealers typically do not size the clasp for people on display models just to try on. Even if they did, it would not noticeably soften the spring bar or loosen anything up. Worse case might be some minor scratch marks around the divots.

116>126 IMHO. Red second hand if I’m not mistaken. Might as well go all in…..right.
