Can tell the emotion wrapped up in the watch and your story, it’s great to share and read ..

What a fantastic gesture, I’m sure she will love it.

Would love to see some pictures of it once you’ve had it serviced.

Lovely story. Thanks for sharing it. Congratulations to you and your family.

I’d probably send that to an independent LAWW, Rolliworks, etc…… if you want to try to preserve as much of its originality.

Grandma to Granddaughter.

1000% great plan.
I also suggest Rolliworks or any vintage watchmaker you already know and trust.

That way you can get the crown and stem back - that crown shows the years of winding, setting and wearing for the 20+ years your Mom wore it. Maybe it becomes a part of an acrylic paperweight you can have crafted.

In other words, "she wore it the first time she cradled you in her arms, and the last time she held your little hands"...

I have been collecting watches for over 50 years now and along the way my wife had managed to accumulate 4 Rolex in her personal collection. She passed away 4 years ago and although she never said a word I believe she knew what she was doing, because now all 4 of her very happy Granddaughters now proudly wear one of her Rolex almost every day. It sure makes me smile.

Such a nice idea. I'm sure she'll love it but make sure you give it to her before she gets her makeup done for the day

Can’t think of another instance where giving away a Rolex feels better than acquiring one. I hope to do the same when my kids hit a similar milestone. Thanks for sharing a touching story.

Please bring it to a watchmaker as soon as possible as there can be waiting lists.

Sending it to Rolex may not be what you want, as they’ll replace a lot of the parts trying to make it look new.

I’m happy for you and your daughter, and your mom who hopefully is watching this.
