Wear it around the store for a bit...you'll know rather quickly if it's the right watch for you. As far as the money goes, only you know whether it's the right move or not.

I pulled the trigger after months of having it picked out. It is different when you actually have the watch and can wear it. Good luck.

If you walk in feeling uneasy, that doesn't seem right, and maybe you should wait or reconsider. Ask yorself what it is about the purchase that makes you uneasy and address it. Remember, it is just a watch and you shouldn't struggle to pay for it or put your finances in any jeopardy. Just my humble opinion, hope I don't offend anyone.

i kinda agree with this and mortgage guy's opinion...

but assuming your finances are ok, then i think you'll be making a good decision! can't relate yet since my watch was given to me as a gift. have yet to purchase my own watch. and when that time comes i would most likely feel the same -- nervous, anxious, might giggle even like a school girl on my way to the AD (no offense to school girls )!

goodluck! congratulations to your new baby!

when I was a kid my Dad always went on about working hard & never spending on anything that you couldn't afford /didn't have the cash for. Good principles - BUT he also was always afraid to spend too much money and tended to be (and still is) pretty frugal - in fact he really suffers from the guilts even though he has done extremely well

As a kid I promised myself that I wouldn't be like thhis - that I would always get the things that I wanted - as long as it didn't hurt anyone and I had it to spend... I'm doing that kid justice - especially at the moment

You can't take it with you... remember there is no real 'justification' for spending lots of money on a watch other than:

"Because I wanted to"

Buy it and enjoy it

It's not investing you'll loose at least a 1/3 of what you paid when you walk out the door.

You buy the watch because you like it ... period.

I still consider it's investing. At least compared to liquid cash which tends to "evaporate" very fast. True, you are taking some loss as soon as you start wearing the watch, but at least you are holding on to a part of that money and it's not going to "evaporate" since it's on your wrist. Not sure if this logic makes sense to everyone, but it sort of does to me.

Take emotion out of the purchase - yes, it's difficult. Don't get "taken". Ask before buying (not after) all important questions.

Heck dropping that kind of money is always a bit nerve racking. My first one was over $200 USD brand new in 1968. That was a lot of money back then.

But,....there is something magical about that first Rolex. I can't think of any other purchase that you can enjoy 24/7.

Pick wisely, take your time and you will have a treasure you will keep for a lifetime and built a history with.
I still have my first. The things that watch and I have experienced over the years makes it irreplaceable to me.

There is only one "first Rolex"
