One thing that I think can help curb the desire for a new watch every other week is to have a watch that can serve as your strap monster. I know this sounds silly, but you can invest a lot less money in watch straps and still have the excitement of something new and fun. Get several flashy custom straps for your speedmaster from Aaron Bespoke or someone similar and you'll have a great time. Just my thought.

I sometimes wish I were a "one-watch" guy--BLRO.
Whittled my collection down to three for over a year and was happy with my collection. On a whim bought a Sub LV last week which I don't even like so will be back down to three shortly. |

It looks a little bigger on your wrist or maybe it's just the photo. Congrats

Good move.
An exercise in restraint. I personally try (and it’s challenging) to acquire something new around major milestones. I have birth watches for my kids (GMT and Bluesy), I got a Reverso for my 40th and 15 year wedding anniversary his & hers DJs. These I’ll never sell. The rest is just for fun. You bought the Kith Heuer, too bad you didn't have this mindset before you wasted that money

Funny…I’ve never understood the mindset of people who like trying to make others feel shitty about the stuff they like or love. They used to be called bullies when I was at school and always tended to be borne out of some insecurity…but you crack on fella, if makes you feel all big and clever. I can't bear to get rid of anything just yet, because I've regretted doing so in the past, but I too feel like I've got "enough" watches.
I do plan on doing one "blow off" piece at some point, probably a DD, to capstone everything. |

I know people thought they were massively over priced, but I loved the Formula 1 when I was a kid, but couldn’t afford one. Yes, I could have bought an original for a third of the price, but they are 30-40 years old and most seemed pretty beat up to me. So the option to get a box fresh one was appealing to me. I love it and don’t think I’d ever sell it. |

Funny for me to be a part of this thread too. Last weekend I sold 9 watches, 3 to one buyer. During the week, I sold 3 more.
It's got nothing to do with finances, but moreover, watches that have been in the box, in the safe, never on my wrist, mainly because they did not fit me (ie new Explorer II), or I really didn't like the look. My "collection" was actually an accumulation of many "buying" opportunities, opposed to love of watches. I have a few more to "unload" in the upcoming weeks. One lucky thing - I never paid over retail for any watch. Keepers: 5711 Green Dial 5711 Blue Dial 18283 DayDate YG 16700 GMT (all dials, all bracelets) 114060 SUB no date 126720 GMT VTNR Oyster (dial changed to pepsi) 116710LN GMT II Jubilee (new in box) 4 various Casio "Collectors" watches (40 Ann/Space Shuttle/MTBG/50Ann Just needed to clean it up and out, and all buyers have been happy people ! Nice core trio. I’m of a similar mindset as well.

Good work OP
I’m at 5 core pieces for the moment - plus a couple of gshocks/SKX/CWC which aren’t worth the time trying to sell. There’s still a couple of watches I’d like to own, but eventually see me whittling down the collection at some point. |

Sounds like you have “arrived”
I feel the same owning what I own now. Unless Rolex releases something I like a lot, I am happy wearing my watches and enjoying them |
