Need advice badly

Stay on the list for the Pepsi, and get another wedding watch. I got a silver OP 36 for my wedding. It looked great in the “corny rings photo”. Also, my fiancé had bought it for me. Do something like that, or get a DJ to match your fiance’s, assuming you got it for her. You could wear a red and blue pocket square to honor your Grandmas.

If you really want it, you need to do some man maths. A wedding, like the birth of a child, helps justify all sorts of purchases that are normally questionable.

Once you have come up with a suitably ridiculous reason that it’s sensible - go grey….

Or like Kat says, convince your fiancé to buy it for you!!

Go grey. No use waiting for something that will not come timely.

Just my opinion - I think the ADs have so many of these special event / milestone requests lately that they have become blind to these requests.

If you had purchased the engagement ring, wedding bands, groomsmen, and / or bridesmaid gifts also via the SA it would've probably improved your odds.

Not even lately. Everyone is special and they need special things for special occasions. Nobody else cares because it's not special to them.

What's more important to you..........the watch or the wedding?

It comes across that you are more interested in the watch............

She asked if there was anything else that I desire should she not be able to get it. My heart is set on a GMT Master II, but I only like the Pepsi. So far, I've been allocated a Sub Date and a Datejust for my fiancé. I want the Pepsi not for resale value, but for sentimental value as the colors on the bezel were both of my grandmother's favorite colors. This is whats making this a very hard decision. I don't buy grey as I've never had to and would like to not pay double the price. Should I wait it out even if it never comes or pick something else?
Such is life my friend, we cannot always have the things we want. Cut the crap about your grandma too.... nobody buys a watch because it has their grandmas favourite colours on it. Your AD is seeing right through that.

You have four choices:

One - buy around 100 grand's worth of other stuff, available watches, jewellery etc and I would bet that BLRO availability would suddenly accelerate for you. Seriously though, are you buying your engagement ring and wedding and wedding rings from them? I don't know, your AD may not be a jewellers too, but if they are, then investigate buying the rings from them too. ADs/jewellers like to try and make life-long customers, where you get things to celebrate different thing through yours and your families lives.... if you've overlooked this, no wonder you're not getting a BLRO...

Two - Buy grey - I know you don't like buying above MSRP, but technically, the only way you're going to get one at retail is by essentially doing that anyway by buying other things.

Three - Simply wait.

Four - Don't choose one of the most widely unobtainable watches in the world to get at retail before a specific timeframe. There's probably 200+ people ahead of you on their registrations who are much more well positioned to be allocated that watch I'm afraid. There's always a bigger fish.

As you won't buy grey, then keep waiting. Buying something else as a compromise probably won't work.

In my opinion, your SA is basically telling you it’s not going to happen. The Pepsi has gotten a lot tougher to get in the last year or two, the allocation is similar to getting a steel Daytona.

You are only 2 watches deep into your buying history, which means isn’t a lot. It’s not the only factor but there will be many people on the list with a longer history who have been waiting also. There is a reason they sell over retail as there are many people, such as yourself, who want them but can’t get an allocation.

Sometimes, we have to accept the position we are in. You don’t have the relationship of or buying history to get the allocation.
Pick another watch you like and hope to pick the Pepsi up further down the line.

I think the story with the grandma is what’s holding up the deal.

Just wear a red and blue tie!

Have to agree. Even if true, it’s an asinine reason to request a BLRO. Get a YM with blue and red, done. Or ask granny to like blue only so you can ask for a 5811.

In a seriousness, wear what you have or go grey. This AD doesn’t sound promising in your situation.

Buy an Omega instead. It's a better watch anyway.

As usual, I agree with Neal. No offense. I like Omega. Coaxial escapement is cool, and all, and I love the orange bezel PO, but it ain’t no Rolex…

I thought the custom is that a groom shouldn't wear a watch at all, on his wedding day? I did not. All the attention on your wedding day on the things important :-)

If you want this watch and nothing else will suffice then you wait.

It doesn't matter if you don't have it for your wedding, if it arrives later in 2025 or even in 2028 you will be just as happy to receive it.

Who knows, it may arrive on your first anniversary, or the birth of your first child or something else special in your life.

Never expect a plea for a hard to get watch to work, the person before you used the same reasoning as did the person who saw the SA after you. The SA has heard it all before.

Just be patient, it will arrive when it arrives.

Or you can tell your significant other that you've blown the deposit for the house on a Pepsi from a grey. Good luck with that one.

I'd go grey and put an end to the questions and waiting game.
If your AD is already telling you how difficult it will be to get almost a year from now, I don't think they have much interest in helping you.

I find it remarkable that people ask others such personal questions. If you are of the means where paying an extra 10-15K doesn't matter as much as your sentiment for your Grandmother and patience to satisfy that you can go grey. Personally I'd just wait for the AD to come through and I can well afford to go grey but never have. And I have no idea of what my Grandmother or mother's favorite colors were....I'm not sure I know what my own favorite color is!

They won’t get you that watch. They’ve told you that already when they asked you to pick something else.

Weddings, birthdays etc etc
It makes no difference, there are others ahead of you in the pecking order for that watch, and they have weddings and birthdays too!

Go grey for the Pepsi, and do what they suggested which is to choose a different watch. That will keep your relationship with the AD going.

You will not be receiving the watch from the AD. At least not without a significant spend on other items. And if you were going to spend 100k on other stuff then why not just go grey. The situation you are setting yourself up for is no watch for the wedding if waiting for an AD. Now as you sit and wait, let Rolex discontinue the BLRO and watch the prices go crazy and you thought it was bad now. If you want the watch, have the resources to make a purchase of the watch in the Grey Market then do it now and put this to rest. You will have your watch, wear it and enjoy it now and going forward and be set up for the wedding.

Pretty simple, really. If you truly have to have that watch by next May, then your odds are not great IMO. You're now at the mercy of the secondary market and will have to pay the going rate. That's actually not as bad as it sounds, b/c you can always buy the watch @ market value and if, by some miracle, the Pepsi does come in, well, you won't have any trouble selling the one you purchased grey.

But wait...there's another option.

Have your wedding without a thought in the world about what watch you're wearing- really, believe it or not, there are quite a few people in the world that do just that.

And then continue to wait for the watch you want.

Thank you everyone for your replies to my post. The wedding definitely means more to me. I just want that specific watch. So far with my AD my fiancé’ and I have spent around 60k total. Jewelry, gifts, the engagement & wedding rings. I feel like the Bruce Wayne might be more doable or I may just bite the bullet and go grey. Thanks again everyone for the wedding congratulation wishes. I appreciate this forum and all of you. Especially the person that said postpone the wedding Lmaooo. She would look at me so crazy if I even uttered those words.

If you're willing to look at another watch from the AD then you not really wanting the BLRO, if you really only want the BLRO then you have two choices;

Wait or go grey.

Me, I'd wait as no watch is worth paying more than retail for.

Are you willing to consider a 5 digit Pepsi? Lots of amazing watches at great prices, including even vintage 4 digit pieces from the 60s and 70s. Something to consider.
