I'd go with the Platinum DD. I just couldn't bring myself to ever spend that kind of money on a SS watch. I do love the AP tho.

My vote Platinum DD. That dial kills it and brings the whole package to another level.

Kind of how I feel, might go cheaper AP 15300 and try and get both. Nothing like that platinum weight.

To pay that far above retail for a jumbo is insane. Actually, to pay any above retail for a jumbo I think is crazy and it is my favorite watch. Given the situation DD. The jumbo will 100% return to MSRP in the not too distant future and you can get one then.

Good advice.

15202. Get a watch winder or you can do a quick date set by moving back and forth from 10 to 2 on the 15202. Problem solved and $15k+ saved. You already own 4 rolex, diversify and add the pinnacle from AP.

Congratulations on your accomplishments.

I can’t help you with your decision, as both watch’s have their pros and cons. One of them has to stand out to you to commemorate this moment. If you’re uncertain, maybe you need to look at different options

Price aside, jumbo all day. Finish, heritage, aesthetics - much prefer it to the DD

8 votes for the AP
14 votes for the DayDate, but this is Rolex forum

I think I’m going to sit for 6 months and see how the market for the jumbos looks at that time. If it has dropped to MSRP or closer to it I’ll reconsider. The DD 228206 feels like it is at bottom market price being slightly and in some cases well below MSRP of a 228236 with fluted bezel, but the Jumbo is still a 25k premium.

If the jumbo does drop significantly maybe both are in reach with a sacrifice of my Steel Sub.

But then I did see this whilst researching and I nearly passed out. This obsession never cools down.
