I'm certainly not defending him, and never saw more than maybe a couple of minutes of his videos, but I doubt he started out doing this as a Ponzi scheme.

He's one of those guys that desperately wants/needs to be a mover and a shaker and he got himself into a situation because of the need to show off and probably try to emulate the wealthy people he dealt with, he started "dipping into the til" to create a lifestyle he could not afford, and so the schemes began.

He probably even duped himself into thinking he could pay it all back but the deeper he got the worse it got. And he'd dug himself a trap.

I've see guys do this many times. In money management, in legal practices holding money escrow. etc etc. The lawyer Tom Girardi, from the Erin Brokovich movie, just got convicted for spending money that wasn't his and was actually for his clients who he won judgements for. Lived the high life for many years and his wife was one of those Housewifes of ........... Meanwhile, the lifestyle was paid for by embezzlement.

Lots of guys in business dipping into the til or dipping into client money, until they get caught or go broke or both, just to keep up appearances. Long lists of athletes and actors etc being embezzled by their money managers and accountants.

This is certainly not an unusual story here, just that it has to do with watches so people here are outraged.

The all too human flaw of ego, overriding morality.

No. I think he's a get rich quick by any means available guy. A crook to the bone that saw gullible watch collectors as an easy mark. The Ponzi scheme didn't just happen, he was intentiional in his misdeeds.

Timepiece Gentleman

For those who followed this saga a while back, it looks like it’s coming to an end.

Agree. I know I am not as forgiving as some but I refuse to believe this guy ever had any good intentions. I remember these videos going on and threads here where people would call this guy a brilliant mastermind with his "marketing strategy" of ghosting people and then re-appearing to build up some hype. People here actually defended him and all I could think was what an idiot he is and who in their right mind would do any business with that scumbag. Sucks people did and got taken advantage of but he is getting what he deserves, total piece of garbage.

The irony in the name “The Timepiece Gentleman” … amazing what the allure of living the high life for X amount of years is enough to give up your freedom. This guy wasn’t a gangster, but now he’ll be locked up with them.

Followed from the beginning, couldn’t have ended any better.

Cringeworthy. And amazing how many influencers and dealers got tangled into his web.
