The CPO market is the AD’s Rolex-sanctioned opportunity to participate in the free market. Prices, inventory and availability will vary to a certain extent although the baseline prices seem remarkably consistent as they often do in a free market.

Now that makes sense. Nice watch and nice buy.

I saw someone post a platinum Daytona cpo in another thread and got me thinking, I never have to pay tax when I buy used watches from greys. A small premium for cpo makes sense but by the time you add tax it’s probably a deal breaker for me.

Fortunately, I live in a tax free state. It saved me significant money on watches over the years.

Glad to hear the experience was a positive one.

This is a great point.

I was also searching for a 16570 for the last few months, 2000-2003 model for me as I wanted lug holes. I was definitely considering CPO since there are a decent number of stores near the DC area. The lowest price I saw anywhere was $8950 for CPO. Grey prices varied from low 8s for great condition with B&P down to below $6k for banged up models with no accessories. Even with the service and warranty, it was way too much of a premium.

Ended up snagging an absolutely perfect condition example with original papers and a 2022 RSC service for low $7s from Tropical Watch. I'm sure it has been polished either by RSC or the vendor, but it looked damn near brand new. Saved myself $1500 by waiting and searching a bit, even more with not paying tax.

Polishing can be a double edged sword, while it might enhance the appearance.
