That video (which I own… on VHS and DVD) was influential enough for me that I ran 13-58s for years on my strat… as a kid in the 90s.

Now, whether I’d include it as a “music video” is maybe another question… and then I’d have to add Pink Floyd’s video “Live at Pompei” in the mix as top contender… for those uninitiated search “Pink Floyd live at pompei echoes” and enjoy…

I really like them! Surprised anyone outside of South Africa knows about them. I should brush up on my Afrikaans!

And I'll nominate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W7wqQwa-TU

If the Beatles didn't pioneer it they must have had some of the very first ones. To this day I still look at some of them from time to time.

So many good ones. Here are a few:
Dire Straits "Money for Nothing"
John Mellencamp "Pink Houses"
Any video by Tom Petty is also good.
"Smuggler's Blues" by Glen Frey
"Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen
"Take on Me" for animated video

I suppose HDN and HELP! could be seen as music videos?
Even MMT was one long music vid'.

I am the walrus, 'video', was shown on BBC's 'Top of the Pops' in the 60's.

Your forgetting about Rain, Paperback Writer, and Hello Goodbye. Pretty sure all can be found on YouTube. These are prime examples of Music Videos before Music Videos were a thing. I vaguely remember seeing Hello Goodbye being aired for the first time on The Ed Sullivan Show. But that still didn't make it anything other than a Music Video, it was just aired for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show. In fact that may have been what happened with Rain and Paperback Writer but it was just so long ago and I was pretty young I just don't remember.

I am the Walrus, Fool on the Hill, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields Forever, and I think a few others all probably came from Magical Mystery Tour so they weren't what you might call strictly intended initially to be Music Videos just as Hey Bulldog which was tagged onto the end of Yellow Supermarine. And yes you had A Hard Days Night, Help, Magical Mystery Tour, All You Need is Love, Yellow Supermarine, and Let it Be as well as other TV shows and concerts but I never intended to claim those were Music Videos although most of the excerpts from Magical Mystery Tour given how they are produced could be considered just that.

Yep I think Take On Me was a bit of a game changer when that came out. Very cool at the time
