That looks pretty awful. Go back to your AD and have them come up with a plan on how to make this right. You asked and paid for laser welding, not grinding and polishing.

True.

I've sent an email to AD - Let's see what their response will be

You need to take this back to the AD and advise you are not happy with the work, and ask for either a refund or give them chance to resolve.

There was a post on here years ago,A guy sent his 16610LV in for service and they messed it up,Rolex had a replacement case with the original case number punched into it and replaced it, not a service case 444xxx but ,A new case with the original serial number , That’s the route I’d be after

As being in the Netherlands, ask Dik Wakker from horlogepolijsten.nl.
He did a marvelous laser welding job on my Daytona which also had a lug “issue”. On his site you can see my Daytona in the laser welding process.

Do you have a picture of the watch before thats not magnified? Trying to see how much they fixed or polished compared to the prior damage.

Sent an email to AD. I got a reply that there will always be some material loss and that my complaint was escalated to 'the manager'.

They then didn't respond anymore. 'They' being Gassan Diamonds Rolex AD

Do you really think that would be possible? I mean, AD claims this job was "all within Rolex standards".

I have. I will share it soon.

I see you are in Europe. If you can, send it to Zimmerman Watch Repair in Pennsylvania, USA and they will make it perfect.

I am certain. They just buffed it out. No lapping. I could have done a better job with a Cape Cod cloth. At least the brushed surface wouldn't have been nuked.

Did you contact them and show the results?
If so, what did they say about them using a “laser”?

I remember that thread. The owner dug his heels in and Rolex did the right thing - eventually.

It's got to be worth a conversation or three.

Please see comment up. They ghosted me after I addressed it per email, with the same pictures attached.

When I picked up the watch, they said it's all within Rolex standards of polishing no more than 30%. Whatever that means?

I noticed the poor job directly which quickly became a yes-no discussion at a level you wouldn't expect from Rolex.

That’s good to know. I didn’t think they’d supply it with the original serial number, but that’s a nice touch

If AD would offer this solution at their expense, would we want a mismatch between papers and case?

Wouldn’t they match if the case was engraved with the original serial number?

Sorry, I didn’t read the entire thread. Aka no more than 30% of the metal has been removed. Which is a lot on something so small

AD told me that Rolex would issue a cover letter to explain why the serial numbers are not matching. Btw, they didn't offer me this solution as they denied they messed up my watch.

Absolutely.
Yes I understand they didn’t offer you the solution above. I was replying to @scooba

Sorry this hasn’t been resolved to your satisfaction
