Perfect size for you too by the looks of it, and highly legible

A friend has both GS and Rolex titanium. GS did not lose a step with titanium. The RLX titanium polishing isn't nearly as good as the GS. But Rolex isn't competing with GS on polishing. They don't have a reputation for high craftsmanship and polishing to protect (GS does) and they are going for a different look.
I'd be interested to know how you know that for sure about the patent.
Personally, I'd be surprised but it's correct that a lot of brands are patenting everything they are working on; even if it's not something really new (the brands from the Swatch group are professionals in doing that.)

And again, I can hear that GS are still better than Rolex for polishing (even if, again, I'd be interested in how you define a better polishing. Rolex is using measures to define it (roughness, grain size, etc)). I think I'll need to buy a GS to check that!

And to talk about the watch, I personally like it a lot even if, as Gearjockey said, I'll prefer it if it had a pop of color on it. It's too similar to the sub for me.

Congratulations!!! This is a watch I asked for at the Boutique but never heard back about. It's a great looking watch!!! I love the relief of the ceramic bezel!

Can you owners share whether AD or Gray? Wait time and spend history? I have been waiting for 1 year so far. Thanks.

Sure. I got mine in June of 2024 from the AD. I bought a Tudor, GS, Sub, a Polar Explorer 2 and a Cartier for my wife from this AD. No jewelry or anything else. I asked for it the day it was released in March 2023 and I think I got the first or second one they got in. So about 15 months.

Awesome AD pickup today after putting my name down as soon as the list opened. That's about 22 months I think.
I was told they get one every other year, alternating with the titanium Deepsea.
Previously purchased around 7 watches with a mix from Rolex, Tudor and Cartier.
I don't think I've ever been so excited on collection day!

Super watch, though very dark. The weight of the Ti YM is 3.7oz, a SS Sub is 5.7oz, and WG GMT is 8.1oz, as configured for my wrist.

I bought mine BNIB secondary

No regrets. Had to have it. It’s by far been my most worn watch the last 8 months.

Ever wonder how hard it would be to be to read the numbers on that pure black ceramic bezel UNDERWATER? Yep definitely a TOOL watch.

When I look down in daylight, all I see is a black circle, so no chance underwater. Though it isn't a dive watch, I'd say it's the coolest watch they make!!

It’s a YACHT Master. The point is to stay on top of the water.

I am still on the waiting list for one and if my name comes up this time I will take it. But last year they called me and had a Deepsea Cameron model and the Ti YM in so I sat them down next to each other and for me the DS was far away the better looking watch. I love Titanium watches and have several from Grand Seiko, Omega, Citizen, Seiko and others, so getting a Rolex in Ti was a good idea to me. When one comes up I will buy it, but I still think the DS and my Seadweller 50 will be the favorites.

Hi all, check out those chamfers!
Photos seem to really highlight the more aggressive brushed finish.
Sometimes it looks like I’ve done it myself on my bench grinder .

If you could only have one - which survives. This or BP 42 (ok to imagine a bracelet on yours when deciding)

The finish looks interesting …. I noticed this when I handled one at the boutique recently.

For me, the bezel was the pleasant surprise

Yes, the finish is like nothing else in the catalogue (other than the Deepsea Challenge obviously). Far more aggressive than the Pelagos line too.
The bezel is interesting to me, it looks like a black ring most of the time. When the light catches it though, the raised polished numerals come alive.
Not the most practical timing bezel, but not an issue for me.
I must say, it's supremely comfortable.

Nice summary, and I agree the numerals on the bezel really pop when light catches them.

I was also impressed with the flat case back and relatively thin profile

This no question. I’m biased towards rolex for what ever reason. Maybe it’s the marketing, maybe I’m vain. Probably both.

I was hesitant whether the 42mm size would be ok, but as you say, it's rather thin profile is much appreciated. The 'less than a Sub' water resistance does help achieve the sleek profile.
I had one link removed and it weighs in a 105 grams.
My Pelagos 39 comes in at 107 grams which surprised me as I though it felt lighter.

I have a GS Titanium and several Rolex models in SS and have looked at the Rolex YM Ti 42 model. I do not agree with your statement that 'Rolex does not have a reputation for high craftsmanship' just because they did not choose to polish the Ti Yachtmaster. Rolex put the brushed finish on the Ti YM because they wanted it to look that way, like you said they are going for a different look. They have the capability to polish it any way that they choose, and could easily put a similar finish on the watch that GS put on their Ti watches. The same could be said for Omega Ti watches.

I Completely agree. The brushed finishing on the Ti Yacht-Master is considered, deliberate and beautifully executed. The polished crown guards and bezel edge are as finely polished as any steel Rolex I've ever owned.
I don't believe Rolex leave anything to chance, especially finishing.
