Wow, there was no particular model; it was the brand itself, the heritage, and the history. I took the first model I could afford and went on from there.

This was the first.

Black ceramic bezel got me interested, so the black ceramic submariner.

The Deep Sea Dweller. But that didn’t last long due to its rock a string design.
A few Subs later I got a hold of the SD43, and it’s been love ever since.

For me it was the GMT Master II . I love aviation and in fact its my career choice. The GMT Master 2 was just calling me . I was able to get one a 16710 coke with the flip lock oyster in 1992 . It was about $3.2k at the time I recall. Bought it at Ben Bridge and in those days there were no waiting lists. I recall I had the option to get the standard oyster bracelet, the jubilee , or the flip lock oyster which is the one I chose. At that time there were also 3 bezel choices available. Some day I may try to locate a similar one to add back to my collection.

My dad’s Oyster Perpetual Datejust. He bought it sometime in the 1960’s while he was in the US Navy.

The big crown subs from the '50s, 6200, 6538 and 5510 are my grails and I first became interested in Rolex as a kid watching James Bond films. That got me interested in Rolex, which led me to the 16610, but through my reading and studying online I developed a real fascination with those original big crown models. I love looking at photos and reading about them. Modern pieces are great and I appreciate the advancements in technology and how wearable they are, but when I want to read about some history I'm always drawn back to the big crowns. The small crown models are also interesting and played a huge role in the development of the sub but I'm not as interested in those as I am with the big crowns.

Polar Explorer II...Yet I've never owned it. I was obsessed with that watch when I first saw it. I watched every video on YouTube on it, then when I finally saved up enough to buy one, I bought the black dial.

It was the two tone white faced Daytona that started it for me although it was the two toned black faced Sub that ended up being my first one to own.

As a diver it was the Sub Date. I purchased my 1st one while on vacation in Bermuda, I went from Crisson Jewelry store to the dive boat and have never looked back.

Green Sub. Back it 2016 I saw one in the AD and the dial drew me in.

116710LN when that ceramic bezel dropped I knew I had to have one. First Rolex. Great watch.

Although I had a date just for a long time, this watch drew me to Rolex. Still have it today.

It was the TT bluesy. I always had a soft spot for it. I started with a no-date sub but always thought i would get a TT bluesy. Now the dream came true!

The white face Milgauss on my Electical Engineering Professors wrist, with that awesome orange lightning second hand was just amazing. I couldn’t believe it was a real Rolex at first. Just so different than anything I had ever seen. I will get one eventually, but that was the watch that got me interested in the brand.

The Submariner Date.

I still Subs but my passion is much more directed towards Daytonas now. Like every one else…
