Agree on the first point, but a compass would be wrong. When you are using a compass you need it out in front of you; so you can accurate. On the wrist it would not be practical. Especially in cold temperature- you would gave gloves on...

The picture is of a compass set up on a greenland expedition...

You can actually use the hands, and the 24 hour hand to find north anyway!

Well if nothing else, this thread has fueled my desire for an Exp II. We'll see.

Hi Pefer not to think of ageing- just a lessening of strength!

Tennyson said it best:

"we are not now that strength that in days of old moved earth and heaven,
that which we are, we are,
one equal temper of heroic hearts;
made weak by time and fate; but strong in will;
To strive to seek to find;
and not to yeild.!

Actually the photo is the one coming in with a full set and 1 year warranty. It'll likely carry a nato very similar to yours. The bracelet may need some work so it might be going off shore to Michael Young.

Looks great. I prefer the ones with the bracelet pins exposed on the lugs. A lot easier to put different straps on. I would use the NATO for trips and then swap back when home. And just used a safety pin:)

Great thread Steve. Please forgive me for doubting you earlier -- my radar was up! I'm amazed at the life you've led and the stories you've told. Best to you in future journeys!

Unfortunately that one vanished and they refunded my money; seems I'll be getting an '02 instead.

Thanks, I should have just googled it. Seems like it could be useful around a sailing environment. Nice.
